Good idea with the Dampened effect. Will that apply to anything with a rarity higher than a certain rarity, or to only items found in chests, or just randomly?
Anyway, back to the game.
After feeling the initial burst of power that comes from handling any magical relic (basically any magic item Rare tier or higher), Dj feels the magic subsiding, as if blocked somehow.
DJ: Dang it, It looks like the magic has been dampened somehow. Normally, I could use one of the anti-dampening spells I learned at Hogsnose School of Mysticism and Magic to dispel it, but without knowing what of the hundreds of dampening curses is blocking it, I cant even start. I could use trial and error, but my MP would run out quickly, and I cant have that. So I'll have to figure out what exact spell is upon it. Looks like it is just a nifty trinket for now. Oh well, at least it looks nice with my tunic.

Dampened is an item effect which blocks some abilities of an item. Stronger items relative to the area that they are found in are more likely to be effected. Relics are also especially vulnerable to being afflicted. This goes double for relatively powerful Relics, as one might expect.

It starts to get dark as you approach the exit of the town because pseudo-nighttime is approaching. Also, the only ways out of town right now are back the way you came or on a mission (a BAD idea when it’s dark, and you also don’t know of any). The path to the next town is COMPLETELY BLOCKED by a wall of dread right now, and it won’t go away until the town is helped.

Daniel, upon saying this, heads back to the inn, and enters the unique room the inn seems to make for each of its guests. The room is small and cozy, with a single bed and a post for his mace and armor.
Daniel doffs his armor, hangs up his mace, and settles into a deep slumber.
David enters his room. It seems pretty similar to his bedroom at the surface. Upon entering and closing the door, David's closet is left at his current location in the room. He sees two beds. One for him, but the other bed seems to remind him of someone.
David: Bro... I hope you're alright.

Seeing his teammates going to the inn, and the psuedo-night that is falling, DJ begrudgingly head to the inn.
Upon going in, he sees that the inn has perfectly suited his needs, with a polishing cloth for his blade, some harmony crystals to re-attune his staff with the magic of the universe, a small bed, and, finally, and most importantly, stacks and stacks of books, about everything from magic, to creatures, epics about adventurers like him and his friends.
Dj: Ah, just like home.
BTW, for the record, Dj is a Helian, a species that is almost half human half elf, but are separate from both.
Several differences from both species
Helians ears pointed, although not as much as an elf's.
Helians are more naturally adept at magic than humans or miis, but not quite so much as elves. However, unlike elves, who can only use Light magic (or dark magic if they are a Svartálfars), Helians are equally adept at both types. (which is why I can use Entropic Channeling)
Helians are similar to humans in that we learn easily, and similar to the elf's in that we are naturally cunning. We, however, lack an elf's naturally agility.
Helians should not be confused with elf's or humans as they are a completly separate species from both.
PS: Sorry for the nerdplaining.
BONUS CHANCE!!!!!
Tell me what I based this whole species off of, and you will win a great prize!!!! (on this roleplay thread of course)
