I flip the bird at the blighted entity. As in, the "throwing a bird at him" sense, not the "giving him the middle-finger salute" sense. The blighted entity, distracted by my AVGN reference, is hit by the bird. It is conveniently Dave Strider's Sprite (as in, his crow kernelsprite), and while it's being accosted by the brainless feathery bumhole, I cave its skull in with a spiral sucker.
I also research this:
Pogo Hammer
3 uses. When you attack one enemy while you have this equipped, it bounces to another random enemy. This effect is not in use if there's only one enemy left, and using the pogo hammer during that time doesn't expend any uses.
Blighted entity killed! +40 XP! A spark of corruption appears!
Research accepted.
Reminder: You have two stat increases available.
My action: I put engie in a stasis capsule for 50,000 years. When he emerges, everything is exactly the same somehow, though he has gained 120 HP.

I tell the embodiment of corruption to consider the modified Köppen climate classification system, developed in 1928 by Vladimir Köppen, a German climatologist. It is a generalization of climate types, based on average monthly temperatures, precipitation and humidity, as well as latitude, but doesn't take into account temperature extremes, wind, insolation, or precipitation intensity. Its main feature is a unique nomenclature comprising a one-to-three letter code for each climate - six region groups from tropical humid to polar, each represented by a letter from A to H, then individual climates from Mediterranean to subtropical desert, and finally a conditional letter representing subtype, which is symbolic of a temperature or some other detail. Köppen's classification also includes vegetation types, as climates form gradients between each other, and vegetation amounts and types can help define boundaries. The embodiment points out some flaws in Köppen's design, however - it states that the generalized nature of the system removed details like location. For example, the Mediterranean climate occurs all along latitudes that are definitely not Mediterranean, such as areas in California, Chile, South Africa, and Western and South Australia. However, I retort that any classification system must make some generalization in order to efficiently and intuitively work properly. The embodiment is stunned by this defiance and tries firing a blast at me, but I point a magical climograph at it, sucking the embodiment into a climate. A climate, as in the A Climates used in the Köppen climate system, which include the tropical humid regions of the world.
The embodiment of corruption finds itself somewhere between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, where the sun is directly overhead at least one day every year. There are always twelve hours in a day in this region, which takes up 36% of the Earth's surface and includes 1/3 of all humans. The embodiment can feel the oppressive moist heat, which, in the coldest month of the year, is at least 64°F daily and has an average monthwide temperature of 70-80°F. Judging from the uniform high temperatures, heavy precipitation, and local plant life, the embodiment surmises that the region it is in is the tropical rainforest, represented by Af on the Köppen scale. It traipses through the jungle, beset on all sides by common jungle tropes such as poo-flinging monkeys and stereotypical pygmy tribes. Due to maritime tropical air masses formed by heavy solar heating of the local atmosphere and of nearby ocean water, the tropical rainforest puts out 60 to 100 inches of water every year, which beats down on the embodiment's head (or uppermost body part, whatever that is). The embodiment eventually emerges from the jungle into a savanna. This is the tropical savanna, or Aw in Köppen's climate terminology. Though similar to the tropical rainforest in many aspects, it differs in that it is located within the trade wind belts just above and below the equator between 5 and 20 latitudinal degrees north and south, and is defined by wet and dry seasons due to the shifting of the Sun's direct rays. As the Earth is tilted, the insolation that strikes the tropical savanna changes from winter to summer, changing the local weather from a tropical rainforest in the summer to a more temperate clime in the winter, though it is still quite hot there. As the embodiment does not have large tree canopies to hide under, the sun's powerful rays strike it, giving it a sunburn, or some equivalent of sunburn if the embodiment doesn't have any skin to burn. Eventually, the embodiment reaches the tropical monsoonal climate, or Am. Straddling tropical coastlines, the monsoonal region has a wet and dry season, but much more extreme - in the summer, low air pressure caused by the heating of the atmosphere dominates the continental areas while high air pressure builds up in the cooler ocean waters, which creates heavy tropical winds that blow vast amounts of moisture and humidity into the monsoon-affected regions. However, the water heats up throughout the season, and when winter rolls around, the continental air becomes cold and highly pressurized while the still-hot ocean creates low air pressure, forcing all of the wet air to move back into the sea and rendering the tropical monsoonal dry. The embodiment arrives just in time for a wind blowing back from the ocean to slap it with a large gout of water. The water short-circuits the embodiment's phone, and it hastily goes to the nearest repair shop, which happens to be manned by me. I point my magic climograph at it and it sucks the embodiment into a different climate. This climate is the climate we're in now, which is some kind of alternate corruption dimension or something, I don't really know.
I reload, then attach a propeller to my frag grenade and send it flying in the air, before it falls down from a great height, bonks the Embodiment on the head for kinetic damage, then explodes for explodey damage(technically still kinetic? Heck most damage in this game would be).

MASSIVE DAMAGE! 850 damage to embodiment of corruption! +59 XP!

You reload and attack, dealing 150 damage. +10 XP.
Kinetic damage is dealt by most normal attacks. Some weapons deal different damage types (like auyeungyat's Zen Meteor). You can also find weapon mods that change your weapon's damage type.
Looks like it's time to destroy that thing again...
I take out a blaster then I point it at the embodiment of corruption before firing a beam at it, covering it entirely and the beam is the anti-corruption beam.
Meanwhile somewhere outside the corrupted entrance, there are 3 soldiers outside then they think of the plan and they take out a dual pistols of light, a knife of fix and a simple stick before going inside.
The one with the dual pistols of light fires many light bullets at the embodiment while another with the knife of fix stabs the embodiment and the one with a stick dances for a few seconds and a huge weight slams the embodiment then the weight explodes while the embodiment is on the floor before it fades away.
175 damage to embodiment of corruption + galvanizing. +11 XP.

"Ah, darn, we lost the guy with the least amount of health but a lot of single target damage. That's probably not good, I guess? What'd he even die of? I wasn't paying attention. It looks like it messed him up pretty bad, though. I really hope this infection doesn't do that to me... I like having a body that doesn't fit snugly in a cake tin. Cake tins look very uncomfortable."
Beat.
"Also, last turn, he wasn't corrupted at all, so either people die according to low max health, low current health, or low overall health. Does infection mean I'm gonna be a target for that move earlier? Or more of a chance? Or anything like that? Too many unknowns."
I proceed to spin around violently in confusion while shaking my head at random, like a guy in a videogame looking everywhere nearby at once, then wildly flail the crab claw in the general direction of the embodiment of corruption, realizing that lack of funds means I can't afford to buy anything that'd guarantee a payoff. Which is a shame, really.

"And will someone kill that anomalous corruption? It sounds anomalous, and anomalous things tend to be anomalies."
Shoot! We don't have enough to buy Antigrave! Shhhhhhoooooot. I think we may have to retreat for now and fight this boss later. I reload and fire at will at the boss, running away in the process.
OOC: Also, new binary!
Outpost Defenders: Retribution will have individual player profiles, which track everyone's stats and accomplishments.
Sounds good!

"Well, Engie, I'd love to kill the Anomalous thingy, buuuut the Embodiment will only be vulnerable for one more turn. We gotta hit it hard and fast while we can!. Also...you might wanna step back a bit."
With that in mind, I fire my assalt rifle at the Embodiment. Yes, you read that right. The Embodiment's already festering wounds are now searing with pain from the barrage of my supersonic salt slinging weapon. And, as any online gamer will tell you, salt attracts more salt, and the Embodiment is now completely covered in salt from head to toe, assuming it still has that kind of anatomy. It's trapped; it can't move or else the salt will dig in to its wounds; it can't breath or it will breath in pure salt. Then the salt spontaneously catches on fire, as exposure to corruption reverses its normally non-flammable state. While the salt no longer burns the Embodiment's wounds in terms of pain, it now literally burns them as the Embodiment is engulfed in a massive pillar of fire.
"Also, GET BACK HERE GOLD! Don't ditch us just yet, we have a fighting chance here!"
Research accepted.
The team doesn't have enough money to buy the shield! You finish off the corrupted behemoth instead. +35 XP.
+75 health to engie. +10 XP.
It's dead, so you attack the blighted entity instead for
170 damage. +11 XP.
You reappear with your weapon!
[Enemy turn]
The embodiment of corruption laughs...
He then shoots ka_doink's turret, dealing
180 damage to it.
ka_doink's turret shoots at the spark of corruption, but misses.
Corrupted behemoth was killed by Gold, Pricey, and Bacon!
Blighted entity was killed by Dooby and Bacon!

Hmmm...
It is corrupted.
As I sense that I shoot a pristine pure sniper round into it's most corrupted part.
The corrupted matter reacts with the pure matter, leaving a hole.
Wait.... Newton laws. Energy can't deexist.
So this reaction gives out fusion energy that tore that thing more apart.

"...That's a persistent infection, I'll give it that. But it's also really annoying."
Is the Spark of Corruption alive? If yes, slap that up like slap chop. If it's already dead, then that'll be a flamethrower blast for the Embodiment to take to the face. Because flamethrower.
GODDAMN IT
STUPID GENDERFLIP VIRUS
"Terminal Corruption sounds dangerous. I'd rather not get hit by that."
I use Lightning Reflexes to prep for the inevitable attack, and use Roadhog's hook to pull another altar on top of the altar I'm hiding behind, increasing my cover. The flying altar smacks the Embodiment on its way over to me.
If you've met TehEpicNinja9001, you've met me. Somehow lost the account's password and email. Maybe I'll try and get it back one day. Or maybe not.

I'll post a link to it in this thread when it's up, if you're interested.
You take cover and fire at the spark of corruption, but miss!
Updated.
Spark destroyed! +24 XP!
The boss' shield fades away!
Lightning Reflexes is passive, so you don't need to activate it.
You deal

Hmmm... I am not on the map.
So the Embodiment of corruption can't see me, huh?
And I suddenly materializes in the embodiment itself and shoot a massive hole in it, causing a structural failure.
I still haven't ascertained my location, so I then go back to where my teammates are.
My games.
I pull out my frag and toss it at the corruption, however, I forgot to pull the pin. I shrug, pull out my flamethrower, and blast the grenade and corruption.

*the cheat noises*
Complipedia
I reload, then attach a propeller to my frag grenade and send it flying in the air, before it falls down from a great height, bonks the Embodiment on the head for kinetic damage, then explodes for explodey damage(technically still kinetic? Heck most damage in this game would be).

I proceed to cast "Clobber With A Giant Severed Crab Claw" on the embodiment of corruption about as many times over as I possibly can, adamantly refusing to bother changing position at all in the meantime.

"Do we want to be the mediocre brimstone boy, or do we want to be the more-than-enough brimstone man?" - Northernlion
Check out my new game, Legends of Aekran!
Beat.
