Seeing as people are already going for the grunts in high and low cover, I make my way towards the grunt in middle cover, making absolutely no attempt to evade anything whatsoever while walking at the kind of speed an elderly person with a walking stick would laugh at, firing at the grunt in middle cover all the while.
I attempt to attack the enemy with my GREMLIN, but then realize that we haven't researched attack drones yet. Instead, I duck behind a box, then pop up and attempt to suppress the grunt behind high cover, with the intent being to nail him with bullets if he tries to pop out to shoot. Given that holograms are rarely all that smart, they will pop out to shoot, and get blasted.
Fun fact: suppression is actually an ability you can unlock.
You go on overwatch, ready to shoot anything that moves.

Unfortunately, he manages to evade your very slow walking and firing combo.

Marshall: Your last test will be to deal as much damage to me as possible. Don't hold back!
You're in an empty room. There are several stacks of crates scattered around the room, most of which are fairly close. Slightly further away are some decently-sized walls that could provide good cover. The room is mirrored on the other side.

Nothing of importance.
A support's tech score affects the chance that an attempted hack will succeed. Higher tech score is better.
Anybody can overwatch. While on overwatch, you'll automatically fire at any enemy that moves to lower cover in your vision (so moving from high to mid cover would trigger it, but not moving from mid cover to high).

I do a triple horizontal backflip and land next to a wall, then sweep kick the wall. This presses a button, and the button triggers a large cauldron of boiling oil to open up above me. I somehow grab the boiling oil falling on me and throw it at a crate. This particular crate is made of water, and the oil scatters the water, which opens the crate to reveal a cardboard picture of Jeff Bridges. However, this cardboard picture of Jeff Bridges isn't just a cardboard picture of Jeff Bridges - it's actually a cardboard picture of Jeff Bridges, as in a Bridges between universes! A mob of aliens explode out of the cardboard, sending cardboard shrapnel flying everywhere, and they all fire upon Marshall. But Marshall expertly executes a flying kick, then a 360-degree spin somersault, then a reverse double-jump body slam, then a quadruple ollie off a nearby crate, then he jumps into the air and does a griffon-style wide-angle split semi-reverse ultra gibbing pirouette. The aliens look at him funny, and he just shoots them. Then I shoot him with my assault rifle.
Then I go around the wall and take cover behind it, if I can.
SQUAD WIPE??? WHAT THE HECK??? I used to be a soldier for the kingdom of alagard, so I have a broadsword. EAT THISSSSS! I slice the marshal with my broadsword.

I try to figure out how spraying inaccurate fire to pin someone down is harder to do than actually shooting them, then decide to just shoot the normal way.
I slowly walk at him while firing the assault rifle once again, still with utterly abysmal walking speed and no sense of hiding behind cover. Although, this time, as I pass by a crate, I pause for a moment to turn and pick the crate up, then hurl it across the room at him.

I firstly take something small but heavy, randomly on the ground.
As engie was throwing the box, I then jumped on it and punch the box down.
I then, when he is directly under me, shoot one direct bullet into his head and threw down the heavy thingy, which was coated in ka_doink's boiling oil.
I then, as I am directly behind it, threw a small knife into his body.
As I watch everyone do these fancy moves, I decide to just take a few carefully well aimed shots, waiting after each shot to ensure that I'm accurate instead of just firing in Marshal's General Direction. I also stand by to heal anyone who gets wounded.

I grab the orb of light (with a Stretch Armstrong, so I'm not out of cover) and throw it at the mirror on the wall. Being light, it bounces off the mirror and smacks Marshall in the face. Marshall is blinded by the extremely bright light and can't see, and he fires his gun everywhere. The bullets fly all around the room, ricocheting off the floor, the walls, and crates. Somehow, the entire team (sentry gun included) manages to effortlessly dodge every single bullet, but Marshall isn't so lucky - a bullet nails him right in the pocket and punches a dent in the battery of his phone. This particular phone is a Samsung Note 7, and it spontaneously goes critical right next to his butt. This deals exactly the same damage as a normal rifle shot would, for some reason.
I smirk, grabbing hold of another dang crate, raising this one up above my head.
"Well, so long as I ain't paying medical bills."
Cue me wandering painfully slowly over to Marshall, then HAMMER DOWN! And there's now a crate on his head. A pause. I raise the crate up again. HAMMER DOWN! The crate is slammed into Marshall again. A pause. I raise the crate up again. HAMMER DOWN! The crate is slammed into Marshall again. A pause. I raise the crate up again. HAMMER DOWN! The crate is slammed into Marshall again. A pause. I raise the crate up again. HAMMER DOWN! The crate is slammed into Marshall again. At this point, I get tired of using the crate as a hammer, and just leave it on top of Marshall for the time being. Slowly once again, I move about a bit, although Juggernauts are slow as balls and thus I'm probably not going to take cover behind a crate in time, realistically speaking. So just before I reach the other crates, I reach out to grab one of them and move it in the way as a slightly more terrible form of armor. Or cover, that could work too.
And, naturally, I spend a moment opening fire with the assault rifle afterwards.

You and Marshall are members of the HLF, who are fighting the Coalition. The Coalition is the evil team. Also, this is just a training environment. The squadwipe is actually just a bright light that ends the simulation.
You manage to successfully hack a display, dropping an explosive barrel on Marshall! He takes 300 damage! +15 XP!

The bright light engulfs you, then fades away. The simulator ends.
Marshall approaches you.
Marshall: Nice work, team. If you'll give me a minute, I'll evaluate your performance.
With that, Marshall departs to his office. You begin to talk among yourselves.
Bio: Do you think we'll be recruited?
Gold: I have no doubt. We did well.
Crusher: Did you see all those crits we landed?
Marshall returns holding a stack of HLF uniforms. He presents them to everyone.
Marshall: Welcome to the HLF, everybody. You're all going to be assigned to team Epsilon. Follow me.
Marshall leads you to team Epsilon's barracks.
Marshall: You'll get your first real mission soon enough. For now, I suggest you get some rest.
Mission completed!
Downs/KOs: 0
Enemies killed: 6/6
Turns taken: 3
Difficulty: Normal
Grade: Platinum
Top 3 players:
Crusher: 70 XP earned
auyeungyat: 58 XP earned
Pricey and Gold: 56 XP earned
Reward: 300 credits, 150 XP
You all enter the command center. Marshall is there to greet you.
Marshall: This is the HLF's command center. This is where all our operations are planned, and this is also where we assign jobs to our staff.
As Marshall gives you a brief tour, he explains how the HLF carries out its functions.
Marshall: All of our troops have a say in what we do. That includes you, Epsilon. You can help decide what our next research project should be, what missions we should respond to, and where in the world we should make contact with resistance cells. For now, you should assign a research project and start scanning for activity.
Marshall turns to look at you.
Marshall: Be ready for any mission. They'll come up sooner than you think.
Marshall leaves the command center.
Current research project: None
Heavy ballistic weapons: 10 days
Ballistic weapons with enhanced firepower.
Weapon mods: 6 days
Install mods onto your weapons.
Reinforced armor: 10 days
Stronger armor that provides increased protection.
Research:Vote on a research project to start it. Once research has started, scanning at sites will progress research. Once research is completed, you'll get its rewards.
Resistance contacts: Scan at a resistance contact to make contact. It'll cost intel to do so. Once contact is made, you'll get more credits each month.
Scanning sites: Vote on a scanning site to go there. Scanning passively occurs once you're there, and once the scanning is complete, you'll get the site's rewards.
Weapons and armor: You can equip any of the available weapons or armor. Once you start getting unique weapons and armor (from special drops or modding), you can claim ownership of the gear, so only you can equip it. You can also undo ownership.
Try to make contact with every region of a continent. You'll get a unique bonus, and you may unlock special missions.

Hey! I'm Draco!
Please help my Pokemon grow: http://pfq.me/GoldHero101
I attempt to choke the marshal by pulling the pin on my smoke grenade and then forcing it into his mouth.
I throw my sniper rifle at Marshall.
"Hit hard? Heh..."
GODDAMN IT
STUPID GENDERFLIP VIRUS
You and Marshall are members of the HLF, who are fighting the Coalition. The Coalition is the evil team. Also, this is just a training environment. The squadwipe is actually just a bright light that ends the simulation.
You manage to successfully hack a display, dropping an explosive barrel on Marshall! He takes 300 damage! +15 XP!
350 damage to Marshall! +18 XP!
130 damage to Marshall. +7 XP.
130 damage to Marshall. +7 XP.
I had never considered using smoke grenades offensively. Clever, clever creature...
400 damage to Marshall! +20 XP!
130 damage to Marshall. +7 XP.
You grab some mid cover and deal 450 damage to Marshall! +23 XP!
Me: I fuse with Marshall and force him to punch himself in the face, dealing 225 critical damage.
[Enemy turn]

Research: Vote on a research project to start it.
