Okay, Ridley, hold the shield for me, I'm gonna throw the wire to you so you can pull me close to you, then I'm gonna use the shield as a boost and pull you along, so we can do this infinitely and get out of here.

This is useless, its a void for god's sake. Might as well use the equipment to kill everyone and eat them. Use the shield as a plate, hook and wire as a weapon, and you can also spark up a fire if the shield's made out of wood/metal and if the hook has traces of flint.
