Now we argue for five days about how to add a second star to the logo.
Any context? I have no idea what 4CC or any of this is.
The 4chan Cup.
It's really complicated to explain, I'll leave a written explanation but I'll throw out a few matches from this year's summer slam:
Our first major winning match that saved us from relegation to a babby:
Our winning match:
It's been an ongoing event for five years. The 4cc (4chan cup) is broken into two major levels of tournaments: the spring and autumn babbies (basically, entry level), and the elite summer and winter cups. Generally, teams that win in a babby or rank in the top-three slots (I think) are relegated up to the elite level where-as teams that fail in the beginning half of the elite cup are relegated back down to babby. Or something proportional like that. Placement and advancement is determined by a score system where a win is two-points, a draw is one, and a loss is nothing; the amount of goals made over the other team in the victory may also be a factor.
Functional mechanics aside, the basic premise of the 4chan Cup is that the major boards of 4chan have their own teams based on their own local memes and they slug it out in Pro Evolution Soccer (PES); though football/soccer is rarely used in favor of "Divegrass" or "Memeball". Matches are streamed and commentated over by any one of a number of the 4cc's commissioners with one (Old Man Sou I think for babbies and former commissioner Dr Boris in elites) taking the lead as head commentator thus sticking around to commentate on hours worth of games as well as receiving and implementing the requests of the team's managers (via PES' 'Coach Mode' where player-team interaction is done the same way one would dictate the action as a coach as opposed to taking individual control of a player on the pitch).
It's a huge spectacle with custom anthems per each board, custom blender models for the players, and goal-horns. 4chan's pony board - /mlp/ - is infamous in that regard as having one of the largest managerial and support staff in the entire cup deploying at any moment up to four managers who run test cups as well as leaning on a large base of Blender-equipped 3d artists to design and implement full player models, jerseys, balls, and a huge custom stadium.
/mlp/ has already won one elite cup, and being the pony containment board (you get suspended for three days posting pone anywhere else) everyone hates them. There was a lot of salt the first time they won an elite cup and there's even more now they got their second elite win, AND ARE THE FIRST TEAM TO GET A SECOND ELITE WIN. It's so intense now in-fact people are furiously blaming Boris of rigging the cup in our favor, though he was visibly frustrated and exacerbated on stream to their victory (he called out in response to being accused of pro-pone bias with: "I am bias, AGAINST THEM! I want some other team to have their fair shot.")
Needless to say when it was all said and done and the dust settled he did some to /mlp/'s 4chan cup general and apologized for what he said on stream. Everyone took the apology with grace and now we're afraid that the rage of the rest of the 4cc community may convince Boris to retire further back from the Committee than what he was already (former-commissioner, now only dedicated "head-rigger" for the elite-level cups and lead commentator).
This year's "summer hyp" video:
Last round of Test Rigging hyp video:
/MLP/'s team history is amazing. We went from best under-dog to the most hated team in three cups.
New Discord episode fell slightly below my expectations.
Thoughts on the episode:
Opposite Fluttershy is best Fluttershy.
I like the premise of the episode and the references to Dungeons and Dragons. It was also nice to see the writers building on on the relationship between Big Mac & Spike, as their relationship as friends was not really elaborated on prior to this episode.
Characterization was spot on, with Discord's quirky humour and him being his usual narcissistic self. Sadly, I felt that Discord carried the entire episode and the episode felt clunky. Also, I would have liked to see more of the D&D session.
Overall, I'd give it a 7/10, the episode was oddly paced but still enjoyable.
Soon season 8 will end. I think that in October / November it ends and it starts months after the 9th season.
There have been new episodes of Season 8, but I did not take a look at their episodes a lot, because I'm not a fan.
