The Crafter's Guild focuses on the creative and technical advancement of its members, but with a focus on three dimensional crafting, especially sculptural work of all scales, metalworking, gem-cutting, glass-working, model building, et cetera, et cetera...
This guild is focused on physical creations ~ computer generated pieces are probably better fit for a different thread except where those pieces ultimately result in a physical work (such as a model printed using a rapid prototyping machine).
=How to Participate=
* Craft, craft, craft ~ and share the results. Whether a fully completed piece, or a work-in-progress, we want to see it. All styles, methods, materials, subjects, and techniques are welcomed.
* Browse the posts and offer critique when people are asking for it!
* Offer new links to add to the resource list...
=Reward=
Participants completing guild assignments will achieve the guild rank Competent, becoming true members of =The Crafter's Guild=. Current Competent members or higher will gain rank.

-Getting Critique-
Generally, it is best to describe the difficulty you may be having with a piece, so that you can focus the members' advice on the elements which you are working on. For example: You are working on a piece but encounter a problem. Note this in the post and we will focus on that specific problem.
Try to describe which effects you are trying to achieve as clearly as possible.
It is also important not to take critique personally, even if it is poorly given. Remember that it is difficult to gauge someone's intonation through text alone.
-Giving Critique-
(Please quote the post you are giving critique to, but put the quote in spoiler tags to avoid clutter.)
Always be as constructive as possible with critique; that is, when identifying a weakness, give a possible solution as often as possible.
Try to identify which elements/techniques work/fail and state why.
Embrace divergent styles. Difference is good, try to understand what the person is aiming for and gauge the usefullness of your critique against that. I would also like to mention that you do not need to be a member of the guild to give critique or feedback, if you feel you have a suggestion for anyone just say it.
=Ongoing Project(s)=
(If you are updating a project please edit your previous post, referred to as a project post. If you are posting unrelated material then it is fine to create a new post. Try to avoid double posting.)
Unfortunately due to my current internet situation I will only be able to provide somewhat older content on my current project. This should be fixed in a week or so.
In a nutshell, my current project is chainmaille. Here you can see a closeup of the weave I am creating. When my project is complete I will have a hauberk (medieval armor shirt) that weighs around 15 pounds. I am using 16 gauge 5/16" diameter stainless steel and bronze rings.
I have a nice sturdy oak desk to work on. Here's a picture of my work area. I use the wrench to bend the rings open and closed, and needlenose pliers to weave the rings together.
I'll be sure to upload more information and pictures soon...
