It's called "True Story" (sometimes True History depending on the translation) by Lucian of Samosata. It's a fairly obscure ancient Greek story, but it's absolutely fantastic! It was written to be a funny spoof of ancient greek epics like the Iliad and the Odyssey, (which were new rather then ancient at the time). It's widely regarded as one of the first science fiction stories. It opens with the author explaining to the reader that he's very a boring person & that he's never traveled around or seen anything interesting like Homer or other famous authors, so he's just going to make up some entertaining stuff for us.
The story is mostly following a group of greek explores as they travel to different planets & meet weird aliens, like the people that are half beautiful woman & half grape-vine. At one point they also get swallowed by a whale the size of a small continent that has a river of milk & an island of cheese inside of it. And the whole book as that same level of bizarreness! If you like the surrealism in novels like Alice in Wonderland or Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. You'll probably love this book too!
I like the story so much I've been toying with the idea of converting it to a graphic novel for a while now. I really can't recommend it enough!

From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king

And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
