I've been watching some "day9tv" live streams lately, and one thing I really like is the music he plays. It's just really nice and mellow electronic music. I thought this would be a good place to ask for some suggestions. Anything that's mellow, relaxing, positive, that stuff just makes me feel good.
listen to some of Panic! At The Disco's music. Some people say that they are an "emo" band, but they aren't. I listen to them and I am anything but emo. Some of their songs are rockish and some are "gentle", you would say. They don't scream in their music, either, in case you were wondering.

If you want some modern electronic and jazz stuff I would definitely recommend some BADBADNOTGOOD, they do a lot of instrumental hip-hop covers and some original work too.

Or he could go with Skipless or Ribbonmouthrabbit or Josh Furey or Mr Moods or Mononome or Moderator or Laugh or Joi or DJ Motive or NZM LJones or Katano Beats or DJ Hellblazer or, really, just google the genre 'triphop'.

these especially if you are into mellow electronic music.
also, check out Flying Lotus. also you might want to check out the whole IDM genre
Or you could, you know, shelve your nostalgia and listen to good music of the present.
That's not necessarily the greatest statement to make. As much as I promote checking out current artists and sounds there's definitely music from the past that's worth checking out. For example I always recommend krautrock bands (German experiment music from 1970s~) to anyone trying to get into experimental music.
