sup, i have ubuntu12.04LTS (the only one i trust) and firefox is outdated on it... so i installed chromium on it and whenever i run chrome everything is fine but it the display of it is in 8-bit and i dont know how to change it.
As far as I can guess this is just botched text rendering, can't exactly know for sure but you are running a dated Ubuntu release even if it is still supported I would recommend jumping to 14.04 LTS if you would like to stay on the "stable" editions. Not really sure how Chromium handles text rendering but this could be an issue of the application being built using newer QT features that the toolkit version in Ubuntu 12.04 does not support. You could also see if there is updates for your OS maybe a patch for the toolkit version or you can use a PPA/Repository to get some newer versions I believe chromium still runs QT.
But really with the amount of improvements to Unity between 12.04 and 14.04 and 15.04 I would really recommend updating to a newer version.

Sort of misleading, 8 bit suggests pixelated, which means incredibly low resolution. Color inverted, however, points to graphics card overheat or some bug. "sudo apt-get update" might work

Lol, it looks like Windows 3.1 on acid.
Maybe you changed some color modes or resolution? Graphics Drivers are corrupt?
