So, the Intel NUC IS a good computer. Just not for anything involving games. It is for streaming and needs upgraded?
It's not cost-effective, and is an extremely niche computer for someone who specifically needs a computer in that small a form factor, perhaps for VESA mount on a tv to use as a netflix box, but even then I'd just recommend building an HTPC, considering that the NUC isn't much less work.
The more expensive NUCs are perhaps a slightly better deal, but still very niche.
And so was the sinking of the Titanic. It was designed more for laptops. (wonder the fps using one while playing Angry Birds)
Decent meaning 30 fps or more. A NUC will not be able to get that.
Also.... wat? I'd assume he meant 'mobile' as in laptop, not tablet or smartphone. Either way, you don't just have a 540m 'laying around'. Oh, and Angry Birds would play quite nicely on it.
Using 8 chunks, the average framerate is 38-45fps. Using 16 chunks it sits around 28-35fps. This was tested with this to consider:
- windowed mode
- sound disabled
- vsync on
- anisotropic filtering off
- 4GB RAM
- Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64
- mSATA SSD
Everything is pretty much enabled by default. I do not know if the Minecraft Launcher auto selects settings or what.

You can get modular mobile GPUs now, so it is no longer impossible. However the 540M is not one of those.
Define "decent" please.

There are many variations of the NUC. Which one do you have? How well does it run minecraft?
I don't know yet. I need to set it up first.
It is D34010WYK:

Can I get an example of what "max settings" means?
Everything turned up. Fancy graphics, smooth lighting, render distance and some other options.
