I know for a fact that laptop will be able to run minecraft. I have got minecraft to run on a laptop with a 64MB video card, 1GB RAM and a 1GHZ Intel Pentium 4 processor.
I thought is was 1GHz but I must have been mistaken. The processor was a Pentium 4 though! To be specific the laptop was a Dell Inspiron 5150 which I guess makes it 3.06 GHz sorry if I caused any confusion.
If you think 1 GHz is to slow for minecraft your wrong though. My Dell Dimension XPS B600r has a 598 MHz Pentium 3 processor, 256 MB RAM and a 64 MB video card, and it runs minecraft at 5-10 fps.

Proud member of the MCF AWA war of '13! if someone suggests Alienware or Cyberpower, wait for a custom-built list from someone who knows their stuff. Meh Rig
Could run Minecraft?
Again I am terribly sorry if this is the wrong forum, thank you.
Anyways for the price that laptop is kind of meh.
You could get better. My personal recommendation is a Lenovo G505s.

At least 86% of what I say is always correct.

It is playable to a certain extent. I got 28 fps in super flat mode. I think I might come out with a new YouTube video to prove my point:
"Oldest PC to run Minecraft: 13 Years old"

OP, that will run Minecraft, but it's not a good buy. This would run Minecraft better and is cheaper:
