I just got a Turtle Beach Z11 Earforce headset for my birthday and I've run into a little problem...my mic won't work. I've been using the headset as headPHONES for a while because I haven't really needed to use the mic yet, but today when I tried using it, nothing happened. (Btw, I have Windows 8) and I went to the Control Panel>Sound>Playback to see if the headset was noticed and the only thing that showed up was the mic on my computer. I honestly have no idea what could be wrong with it. Any help?
Sorry for the late response, and my computer has two holes (one with a microphone picture and one with a headphone picture. However, when I put the plug in the mic hole, sound doesn't come through my headset. I figured this would happen but I'm not sure if the sound from the game will be picked up by the computer or the headset for videos. I'm pretty much clueless because this is my first wired headset.
I would say it's because you bought Turtle Beaches, but like popsicle said, it was supposed to come with a PC adapter bit. If you didn't get it/lost it, you can probably buy it off Turtle Beach's website or Amazon. After that, just make sure to get someone who isn't colorblind to plug them in correctly (I had this issue).

Can’t believe the stupidity. They don’t buy the product. This is why forum support is so stupid. I ran into the exact problem bef—oh what? Oh, I was just saying nothing, hehheh.
Plug the little one plug from the headphones FULLY into the one plug for the headphones on the adapter. Also, for the other guys that replied, BUY THE PRODUCT YOURSELF AND TEST AND THEN MESS AROUND WITH IT. Key to successful support, and that should be a proverb.
Also to the OP: Make sure it doesn’t break and don’t drop it randomly. That’s what happened to my Turtle Beaches. I still want to replace it, even though I found a solution around it.

SonicFruit makes it clear he does have the adapter, when he says “one plug”.

I thought it was quite obvious when he said that. He means there is only 1 JACK on the headphones. He does not mean the plug on the adapter when he says "one plug". Just because someone posts a question in the forums doesn't make them stupid (usually). Clearly, if he is referencing that he does indeed have the adapter, then he would have followed the instructions above, and would just plug in the microphone jack into the microphone port, and the headphone jack into the headphone port.

I encountered the same problem but when I plugged the headset into the adapter into the computer, it still did not recognize that the headset was plugged in.
My Turtle Beach Z11 headset's headphones work perfectly, but when I try using the mic, it only produces static if the jack itself is moved around, the mic works perfectly on both my dad's and my brother's laptops. This particular type of headset seems to have a lot of problems with people
Sorry to say I don't think it's a cord or jack issue... I have a Blutooth and it works on all my games but Minecraft... I think in the update they might have crashed the voice chat.

I don't see why this is so difficult.
It's difficult because there's only one plug. Not two. :/

lol/Rant/Whatever of the…!: Beyond: Two Souls is a sad/depressing game. Not like the ending of Mother 3 isn’t more sad.

Color blind? Yikes...
I have a fix!!!!!
What you need to do is (leave the mic plugged in).
You need to go to control panel/sounds and hardware, and click on 'Device Manager' with the little admin shield. It's next to Devices and Printers.
Once you go into that, locate your mic. (It should be in Sound, Video, and Game Controllers.
Right click on the mic, and click uninstall. Confirm it. (Don't worry, it can be reinstalled very, very easily.)
When done uninstalling it, just unplug your mic from the computer, and plug it back in. (Note: Computer must be on.)
Done! It'll install, and then you should be able to switch the recording device!
