I thought it would be fun to make a build log since everyone else who's building has a log.
Anyway, I'm currently in the process of building a computer for not only HD gaming, but for music production, which takes quite a bit of power, all on an extremely tight budget. My current computer, an Asus Essentio CM5571 which I bought in 2009, is where I'll be getting some of my parts. The rest goes in the trash... or to anyone here who wants them. (free of charge)
What is worth saving from this computer:
RAM, 6GB DDR3 1300mhz
HDD, 1tb Seagate Barracude (I love this thing)
Unbranded DVD burner that I never use
The rest is crap. Except for the CPU cooler, which isn't stock. Want it Teckmaster? If I recall correctly, you're looking for a decent lga 775 cooler. PM me if you're interested.
Here's what I've bought already:
4 blue LED case fans for my new case. These things are awesome! They glow very bright and have incredible air flow! http://i.imgur.com/9bbojE9.jpg
FX 8320
Some mobo, haven't decided which one yet, It'll probably be something from Asus
212 Evo for some moderate OCing
And of course some sort of thermal paste, haven't decided on this either.
After that, It'll be all done. And maybe I'll get another 2 gigs of RAM in the future.
Thanks for taking the time to read this! I'll make an update when I recieve my new Case (Zalman Z9 Plus)

If you getting the 212 evo it comes with thermal paste, buying other thermal paste might make it like 1 degrees less which doesn't really matter, if it doesn't have to be a asus mobo, i suggest the Gigabyte 990fx ud3.

Don't have money for a 990 chipset.

im sorry but that mouse is just.... no. But rest of pc looks good, keen to see how it goes. Also about the offer on the 775 heat sink, I am afraid I need 771 heat sinks, since I am using xeons. Thanks for the offer though.

Good luck with build, keep us posted.
What's wrong with the mouse? It works great and I love it. When this one breaks, I'm going to buy another one (which won't be any time soon )
Do you atleast want the fan? It spins at 4,200RPM and screams like a jet, something that all servers souind like LOL.

lol i have a delta fan in my server which is like 6k rpm, uses like 12w of power or so. the mouse isnt optical and its from a brand I haven't heard of :<

Well, what's wrong with laser mice? Are they still in their infancy? Are they unreliable?
And let's not turn this thread into an argument :C

This morning, the UPS man came with my new case, the Zalman Z9 Plus! Youtube's uploader seems to be broken at tme moment, so here's a picture of my setup so far:
It's a little noisy, but it has greatly improved the temeratures of my graphics card. It went from 100C on load (I accidentally let it get that hot D:) to 74C. Still a little hot, but a huge improvement. There's 9 fans in total, all of them have blue LEDs (excluding the cpu and gpu fan).

Yeah, well I put the cover back on the card, so maybe that'll get the temps down far enough to do some overclocking.

Well, after testing many different case fan configurations, my graphics card still gets really hot. 80C to be exact. These temperature are unacceptable, considering that I have 7 fans going at once. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have one fan on the bottom pulling cool air into the case, one at the front doing the same thing, two on the side panel sucking hot air out (one is directly under the graphics card, even!) two at the top blowing hot air out, and one at the back blowing hot aIr too. Does anyone have any suggestions? With all these fans going, I should be getting temps under 55C!

What are your temps at idle? Also, how fast are you letting your graphics card's fan run? I allow my graphics card fan to go up to 60% speed at the most and that's enough to keep it under 60°C under load. Mine has two fans though and my idle temps are around 25°C.

They all suck. They just suck differently. Sort of like prostitutes.
Have a look at the direction of airflow you have, maybe one or two of your fans are facing the wrong way then you thing.
Aim for hot air up... so have front and side going in, and rear/top going out.

or the Asus m5a97 since i have a asus near me sorta o.o
@OP if you're going with a M5a97 atleast get a 6300. It feels a bit weird having a bit something high end with a low end/mid end mobo.
