Static electricity is nothing to worry about, in my opinion at least.
After moving everything into my new case, I realized that I didn't ground myself once and was also working on carpet. It booted up fine.
Also it could be a user error like you said, but it could also be a DOA part. Don't blame it on yourself, it could be a faulty part. It happens.
Well, I'm going to take it to a computer place tomorrow.
I have a friend that lives a couple cities over that said it could possibly be a dead motherboard or "spacer screws". He said on his first build he forgot to place them, but I have no idea what he's referring too. All I installed were standoffs and bolted those in. That's it.
Money is definitely important to me. I'm not rolling it by any means. I just don't know what else to do. I may mess around. I'm probably overly-gentle, but I'm nervous about messing something up now.
try taking everything out of the case. and ONLY have the cpu, cooler, RAM, 2X2/2x4 and 24pin cables on the motherboard and try a boot VIA extreme 4's on button if you have one. i think you should.
Proud member of the MCF AWA war of '13! if someone suggests Alienware or Cyberpower, wait for a custom-built list from someone who knows their stuff. Meh Rig

He took everything out and rebuilt, he's doing something wrong.
Use a newegg tut and restart one last time if you can.

I only casually touched a grounding metal piece once every 5 minutes or so during my build- took me about an hour so it didn't bother me too much.
Then again, I live in a relatively non-static-y house where I never get shocked when touching handles and we have no carpet, so it might not be as applicable to you.
The EVO 212 fan should just hook into the "Power Fan" right?
I have
2 CPU fans
3 Chassis Fans
1 Power fan hook up, but the EVO is a 4 pin.
If the thing doesn't even turn on, the fans aren't the problem. If that was the case, the motherboard would give an error, but the system would at least turn on.
You could buy a PSU tester, they cost around 15 bucks. This sounds like a PSU problem to me. Also, if you have another PC in the house that has compatible parts, you could use known good parts to eliminate possibilities.
I am going to work on it a bit more. If I don't get it working, I will have to take it to a local computer hsop unless its outrageously priced. Nonetheless, I'll share the problem. I hope I'm just a total noob and that nothing is doa.

Thanks, I just saw this. I don't have other PC, I know, I know... Iread about the PSU testers. I will get one possibly tomorrow depending on how everything goes.
The PSU testers are very easy to use and you can probably pick one up at a Radio Shack, or your local equivelant. Unfortuantely you can't just use a multimeter because the PSU won't operate unless there is a load.
Last week my friend built a PC and he had very similar symptoms. I told him to do the same thing, instead he RMA'd his motherboard and ended up bending a CPU pin before realizing it was the PSU all along.

How do I remove the thermal paste, so I can reapply.
Take some rubbing alcohol, put it on a microfiber cloth, and wipe. This time remove the CPU and check the pins.

Sweet, I have some micro fiber...I'll do it again.

Nope, I do not sir.

Also, I'm sorry you're having this trouble. Thanks for being awesome and not getting frustrated though.
