So for Christmas, I got about $500 and I'm thinking of doing either one of the two: change the graphics card of my factory built computer or sell that computer and build a new one.
So my questions are:
- Is the first option possible? I would think it is, but I'm just making sure. This is the first time I have deal with these stuff.
- If I choose the second option, where could I sell my computer right away and how much do you think it would cost?
Specs: i5 six-core processor, 10 GB RAM, Radeon HD 7450 1GB.
- Which option would you recommend? I'm leaning more towards just changing the graphics card because it's a lot less work and every other thing besides the graphics card seems great.
Sorry if I got some stuff wrong, what I posted was all from memory. I posted this on my iPad because I'm at my cousins' and don't have my computer. I'll post my full specs later when i get home but I'm pretty sure it's not a quad core or less. It was bought from best buy so I might be able to find it on their website.
Here's a speccy snapshot: http://speccy.pirifo...DpgNom8P3cTrjGx yeah, not i5, I was thinking of my laptop.
And as for the PSU, I know I have to change it if I'm gonna change the graphics card, because I'm sure it's not enough.
i would just sell it to some idiot who doesn't know what hes doing and build a new computer. not worth sinking any sort of money into that thing.
The problem is, I don't have anyone to sell it to. I know factory made computers are generally terrible for gaming, but my mom bought this for me when I was 15 years old and naive about computers. I'm still naive now, but a lot less than 2 years ago. I've already done research about building a gaming computer (because it was so boring at my cousins' today), and I'm seriously thinking of doing it. I just don't have enough money unless I sell this one, but no one would buy it.
you need to replace the cpu, and graphics card, and power supply indefinitely. The case is horrible too so that would need replacing. you are better off building a whole new computer.

Salvage the parts you can (Usually HHD, maybe Ram), or clean the computer up real good and see if you can sell it.
I currently am at 800 dollars, and My goal is 900 (SO CLOSE)
It is kind of scary though...thinking of spending all you money..on a risk.
Anyway yeah I would just maybe upgrade the OS to windows 8, advertise it as awesome, make bank and build

I always wanted to argue with a brick wall, I suppose the internet is the second best option.

Eh, I'm not really going for a flashy case. It's always under the desk anyways where I don't see it.

That's what I'm afraid of too. What if I messed up? That's $1000 down the drain.

Usually you will only mess up a certain component- most commonly the CPU, GPU, or motherboard. But yes you should always be super cautious. Even though most computer parts can actually take a beating (I took apart an old dell---scraped the motherboard, wore wool socks on CARPET, placed the parts on the carpet etc.. it still survived lol) you still always want to be sure.
And sell of your componets after a a year maybe 1.5 or 2, you want to stay on top of the times.

Download Speccy and post a screenie here.
Here it is: http://reviews.bestbuy.com/3545/5563052/hp-pavilion-hpe-desktop-10gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-reviews/reviews.htm doubt it helps, but it's something.

it has bad cooling though
