I'm building a laptop, and i'm really happy with it, but recently i heard that a quad core I7 was worse than a duel core i5, I was just checking to see if this was true... I'm gonna be doing gaming, and some work on it, so i want as much power as possible. Price is no object.


Here's what i was looking at:

2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-2450M, 2.5-3.1GHz, (32nm, 3MB L3 cache)
Or:
3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3GHz - 3.3GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP)

You're building a laptop? Is that a typo?

Im actually writing this with an i5 2450m in my laptop. At idle I get 36 degrees Celsius and at max I get around 82 Celsius. I would recommend this processor if your planning on doing mid power games like minecraft or Garrys mod. Things above games like chivalry definently not.

Well, you can, but i guess i didn't clarify that. There's sites to pick and choose lappy parts. Yeah, it's harder to build one from scratch, but it's doable.

the nvidia gt 650 1024 mb. It looks pretty sweet.

Ok, thanks. I heard rave reviews about this laptop, that it could run bf3 on med-high with no lag, so i was pretty excited.

Haha! That would be hilarious! But i get your point. It would be really tough to find a lap top body that would fit all the pieces i want. XD

that's true, but i do have an uncle in las vegas who gets them direct from special stores/companies.
