fraps has good quality and is paid but makes huge file sizes . Bandicam has lower quality but makes lower file size videos and is paid also. hypercam is free but makes normal file sizes. Get fraps if you have a big hard drive. Get bandicam if you don't. Get dxtory if you have a normal hard drive and you know how to configure its settings. and get hypercam if you have no money.
btw hypercam cant record microphone and gameplay sound at the same time.

Fraps gives large file sizes because it outputs the raw file. You are expected to use a program such as handbrake to compress the files into some other format afterwords. This way you have more control over the quality and file size you want to upload.

Nobody's perfect, so neither is Hannah Montana Linux, but it's pretty great.

They all suck. They just suck differently. Sort of like prostitutes.

Fraps isn't 'raw'. If it were 'raw' it would really be big. I mean, by default it uses YUV.
The FRAPS codec is about as raw as you can get on a per-pixel basis without hitting diminishing returns, however.
Depends on what you would consider diminishing returns.
I would consider a 'raw' something that uses an actual lossless codec, or something that prioritizes quality over speed. But I guess that's just a personal thing.

Well mind you it's also consumer-level software, so it needs to not soak up a constant 100MB/s of write bandwidth.

Right. But just like I wouldn't consider my camera's jpg pictures raws, I wouldn't consider the videos Fraps produces raws. Not saying they're bad or anything like that, just terminology consistency.
If you want good performance vs. price, then try CamStudio, it is free, and once you download their lossless codec, it produces amazing quality. Plus, I might be wrong, but I believe it is open source so...
Use OBS. It has a feature which lets you save a file to your pc rather than broadcasting to twitch. It's lightweight and works well.
Obs is the best. You can get a facecam, custom borders, text, livestreaming, and all sorts of other great features. It is the best free screen recorder. It even tops some paid programs www.obsproject.com
I've tried all of them and personally Action! is the best. It just runs much smoother for me than Bandicam. Fraps gives too big of a file size for me to handle.

It's literally a button right next to "broadcast" that says "save as local recording" for xsplit and similar.
I have talked to many people about what recording software to use and I say, "use obs" and they say "I have, but you can only livestream with it" or "I don't know how to make it save to my computer"

Then they are functionally blind, because the option is quite clear in all of these programs.

Uhh they all do that?

I use this
Its cheaper than fraps and it doesn't lag your computer at all (And I have intel pentium 1,5 Ghz)

I disagree. CamStudio lags a lot and has bugs
But most people don't know that/how to get it to only save files to your computer instead of livestreaming.

Talk to different people.
