It is, if you need all the power. You could save about $70 by getting an Asus 7970 from NCIX, it has a bit better cooler and the GHz Edition subtag doesn't really matter that much, less than a few percent. Can't say much from the peripherals except that they seem ok, although I'm not certain.
hold up.... remove the sound card.... no offence but nothing will really use it. unless you get like a $200 headset you wont tell the difference from on-board and a dedicated.
You want to play, and record, BF3 and Minecraft for a YouTube channel. Mass rendering will not be necessary, as you'll record one video or two at a time and render after that.

But its your money

Don't even try, you've written that your Xbox account is zach32giants, "his" name comes pretty damn close. Both your and his original builds have the same case and the mouse, the chance for that happening by coincidence is practically zero. You both said that the uses would be rendering, MC and BF3. There's no chance that you're not the same person, there are just too many similarities.
I just can't understand why you aren't taking the advice you're given, you could save lots of money with it. Something like a sound card could easily be purchased afterwards you've assembled the build, if you still feel like you need one.
If you're not doing more than a few videos a day an i5 with 8GB of RAM will be enough.
Detective JPPK saves the day once again!
But, seriously, get the I5 and smaller ram package.
This is hopefully good for:
-Fast Rendering
-Battlefield 3 [Ultra settings]
-Minecraft

It's not mechanical.
Honestly, why the i7? An i5 3570k will work just as well for much less.
I agree with him. Buying an i5-3570/k will save you around 100$ and there's no difference in performance @ gaming.
Except he has rendering as one of his uses.....

Though with the video card and RAM you have, you're going to run BF3 on Ultra Graphics fine.
Wait does that mean that this graphics card he chose is good for BF3 on ultra settings?
Yes.
Just admit to it so I can move on with my life.
Here's my understanding.
