Hey guys. I am trying to do commentary, but my headset keeps picking up my breathing. It is really annoying, I have to keep redoing the commentary! I record commentary after the video, and then put it together later.
I have asthma so I do breathe quite heavy.
Is there a special position the mic has to be in to stop picking up my breathing? I have a headset with the mic attached, so it can only move apart so far.
I was thinking of getting a better mic, if I started getting somewhere on Youtube. There would be no point in me, spending x amount of cash for 10 or so viewers.
Thanks for your answer, I will try re position it to the side of my mouth.
Go into your settings for you mic, should be in advanced audio settings, set Mic to pick up sound at half volume, next put a foam or cloth cover over the mic to help filter air rushing by the mic. Failing this, take your headphones off when recording and place them on your desk.
I personally buy mics that would only reach to the side of my mouth and not in front. You would just have to increase the mic volume since your not directly speaking into the mic and would sound like your talking from a distance in most cases.
I know stores like Walmart or something similar sell $10 mics that work like a charm, long as they have the foam cover over the mic head and is flexible you can adjust it accordingly.
You don't get a lot of views because of bad quality -> You won't invest in a new microphone because you don't get a lot of views -> You don't get a lot of views because of bad quality > You won't invest in a new microphone because you don't get a lot of views
You're in an infinite loop like this.
Buying a new microphone can get you out of it. Besides that, you can already get a pretty damn good microphone for around $20-$25.
The ammount of views you get is all luck. I know many people who make full 1080p videos that are better than Yogscast but only like like 50 subs.
Yeahhh.... no. It is having good quality (I personally don't like 1080p, I prefer 720p by miles) videos, being original (this is what most people fail to do) and being able to advertise yourself and get yourself known.
Simply making a video once in a while without doing anything will not get you anywhere, even if it's of good quality.
Also, it's not that hard to surpass The Yogscast's quality.
I agree completely, however many people with very high quality videos don't have nearly as many subscribers as they should. I would link you to someone in particular but I don't feel like getting banned (They may or may not use lots of profanity)
I won't say that's not true, it sure is. Though if they really do make great video's, they lack in their campaigning/getting themselves know department, which is really important too.
Also, you won't get banned for posting links to youtube channels.
Still, it's not bad. I'm only a bit bigger than him myself if you look at subscribercount. The problem is that there are thousands of people who basically do the same (ish), and you need to find a way to stand out.
'Tis the law of saturation.

Neckbeards! Doctor Cichocki does not approve of stupidity and neither do I, stop the spread of damned useless rules!
TBH, I use a rock band mic and it is as good quality as a Yeti or Blue Snowball. People are surprised by this, but Rock Band mics are actually amazing quality. Here's a great example of someone who uses one: http://youtube.com/xspilz and he has 5k+ subscribers, and has been using one his whole youtube career.
I love Rock Band mics for commentating, and the best part is they are so cheap at game stores.

Any tips guys?

Good luck.
What about this suggestion? It seems completely viable.
