So I'm making some YouTube videos and have watched a few and realized something: the quality sucks. I thought, OK, YouTube Compression. So I went into iMovie and, they still sucked. So I looked at the raw footage and realized that my screen recordings are the problems.
Currently, I am using QuickTime X (That comes with Mac). I have it set on highest quality, but the problem is, QuickTime is for average consumers, and I want higher-quality videos instead of smaller sized videos.
So, does anyone know a high-quality FREE (ScreenFlow is 100 dollars!!) screen recorders for the Mac?
Quicktime and screenflow are pretty much the only screen recorders available for mac, so you don't have a large selection. The worst part is NONE of them are any good, so I guess you can either not record anything or install windows... Serves you right, Macintosh user :).
First off your using a Mac:p Second off, your better off getting a new PC, or at least be willing to spend $50. If you want to do Youtube stuff like the pros, it takes investment. You're using a Mac, which has a very good Mic, but Apple computers aren't the best for gaming, especially the laptops. If you want to record, and play high quality games it's going to take some money. A decent Macbook Pro for gaming will set you back almost 2 or 3 thousand dollars. I do suggest getting a Mac Pro, or iMac if you want to do serious gaming on a Mac(That contradicted it selfXD). Lastly, if your on a tight budget, and your really crazy about Apple, then use boot camp like Notch did with Skyrim
You can run Windows and still have that Mountain Lion UI when you want. Expect to spend some money if you want it to be the highest quality possible.

Bro, I know PC is better. I got stuck with a Mac though. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have a computer, I'd just rather have a PC.
Just "get" screenflow. It is A really good recorder. In running an early 2013 15inch retina, and get about 120 fps not recording. With quicktime, It drops to 20-24. with with screenflow, I don't lose any FPS

I use iShowU HD, which was $30 and works fine, except is a bit glitchy at the moment. I don't recommend enabling the beta; I think that's what is causing it. You can see my videos at my YT, which is in my signature.

whats the specs? don't forget that most the time the FPS you record at is taken from what you get, it isn't always the case but it's possible.
EDIT, Screenflow is your only bet as neither DXTory or FRAPs have Mac editions
