I sometimes think people post things like this to say "this is my computer, jealous?".
LOL i started off wanting a rig for only minecraft, but i have the spare cash so now i'm going full out XD. Anyhow i was wondering, the video card needs 550 watts, and the proccesor needs 95 watts. If i buy a 650 watt power supply is this okay or is it to low?

Well the gpu doesn't need 550W for itself, you must have been reading the minimum recommended for the whole system. Anyways, a 650W should be perfectly fine

I see, i was planning on buying a 600W. Would that work? I'm trying to save some money :tongue.gif:
Yessir, they are usually quite reliable and are cheaper than others. But if you could, Corsair is the way to go imo. Never had problems with mine and same with my friends.
Just wondering, i don't really know how power supplies work. If my processor needs 100 watts to work while a video card needs 600 watts does that mean i need a 700 watt power supply?

No, the listed recommend power supply for a graphics card is total system power. Even then they usually go over board by 200W or more to account for massive storage, water cooling, overclocking builds and aging. A 550w PSU is more then enough to run any single GPU build with air cooling.
That's slightly more powerful than my build (i5 2400/6850/4gb with a 6870 and 8gb ram waiting to be put in), and I run it very smoothly on high, so you'll do just fine.
And you shouldn't even need 600W, to be honest.
500W is enough, if you pick a good one, and aren't going to upgrade or add extra stuff.
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
8 gb of ram
XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB Video Card
You would get better fps with the 560 ti. Here are some benchmarks: http://www.hwcompare.com/8890/geforce-gtx-560-ti-vs-radeon-hd-6870/

That should work fine also, just make sure you don't cheap out on it though. Try for a Corsair brand.
Is cooler master a good brand?
