Hi, I'm trying to run a modpack on my computer (using the Twitch app) but I need an older version of Java for it to work. I've looked around and everyone's saying to get an older version of Java to run it, but I can't seem to find a place where I can download it. I know I can download legacy versions on the website, but it says I need an Oracle account to download it, and I don't have all of the information necessary to download it.
If you just need Java 8 (not anything older) the official launcher comes with its own runtime which is based on Java 8 for this very reason (unless it changed since the last time I saw they don't even accept bug reports for issues with newer versions. IIRC, mods, at least Forge, don't run on newer versions due to a bug within Forge itself, not the game; Forge for 1.6.4 even crashed on Java 8 until they patched it, not sure about older versions).
You can also use the official runtime to run other Java programs, including installers (at least on Windows it is located in C:\Program Files\Minecraft\runtime (Program Files (x86) on 64 bit systems as the launcher is 32 bit but the runtime will match whatever your OS is, another reason why Mojang includes it, besides being the proper way to distribute Java applications these days); other operating systems should have their equivalent to Program Files).

(I'm presuming you need java 8)
not officially AFAIK
But ex. AdoptOpenJDK hast OpenJDK8 Builds
Thank you so much! Just one more question, would this be HotSpot or OpenJV9? I'm on a Mac, so it might be different.
Edit: nevermind, got it
For anybody who doesn't know what to do, I used Open J9 and then the JDK. It may work for Hotspot, but for me it worked for openj9

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
