I've bought a laptop running Windows 10. Its not straight from the factory, but the laptop exceeds the minimum requirements for playing Minecraft. The only thing from what I can see, is that it doesn't quite meet the 'recommended' requirements are the graphics, which falls slightly short. I downloaded Java 8, and even updated my graphics card drivers. I've downloaded Minecraft Java edition and the game launcher run fine. The game starts and after a short time (under 2 minutes), the computer crashes and has to be rebooted by pressing and holding the power button - meaning I get no error codes or suggested faults. I can't enter task manager or even move the mouse cursor. I tried to work out if I've downloaded the wrong version, but from what I can see, the Java and the Windows 10 versions are different, but should still operate on both. I even tried running the game on lower resolution modes, about [email protected], not in full screen but that still doesn't work. Whilst I'm open to the suggestion that this laptop is to blame, can anyone assist? It would put a smile on my son's face if you could. I'm about to try the windows 10 trial version, but I'd have to re-type the thread if it crashed too. Thanks
Yes, that was my impression too. I can’t see why a new laptop should do that, particularly as it exceeds the minimum requirements but when it crashes/freezes the entire system I think there could be wider issues. Appreciate the Java and W10 are not the same game, but didn’t seem to have the same problems there.
