Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt :
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup
using the original Setup CD-ROM
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.
I want to fix it but I try the cdrom thing and the pc crashed! So I need help, ps everything was word for word there
This is minecraft related
And I had to post this on my kindle too
All I know is that "system 32" is the folder with all of the files that make your PC tick. So, if something's wrong with it, that's probably why it won't start. Did you mess with the files or anything?

I'm on a bit of a hiatus from playing Minecraft, so I'm not so active in this forum, either. I still check it though, and participate in a few discussions.

I would recommend running a computer refresh. Your files will be saved but not your programs,it might be your last chance. When you turn on your computer, immediately start pressing Escape on your keyboard. It will bring up a menu,i would say further instructions; But i don't know what the windows 7 menu is.

Wait, how do I refresh, I thought u said repair, I read it wrong
If I know a thing or two about Windows XP (God bless XP), it's that you NEVAH mess with System 32. The computer NEEDS System 32 to operate.
If your parents have the disc, then Put it in the CD-rom, and you should be good from there.
If you don't have the Installation CD-ROM, I suppose you have another computer with you, if you do then just download a copy of XP (Since you have a product key, You just input that into your Installation.
About downloading XP, it's not illegal to obtain a copy, but it's illegal to steal another Product key.
To put the .iso file you get on a disk, just put a new blank CD into the PC's CD-Drive, then right click the .iso and select Burn to Disk. Then once you have burned that disk (As in copied the files), then you put that into your broken PC.
Well there's your problem.
Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, and is probably loaded to the brim with malware. All in all, it probably was a virus.
This thread is cancerous. Almost everyone here has no clue what they're talking about and are only suggesting common solutions that seem to work for some problems.
You used CCleaner. The registry is stored in System32/Config, so by attempting to clean your registry CCleaner deleted something critical, which is why you're getting that specific error now and you can't boot.
Really, the only solution would be to repair Windows with the disk it asked for. That or reinstall Windows entirely.
I've tried, and I do have a CD-ROM , when I try to repair it crashes.
Take the computer to a shop, get them to pull all your files off the disk so they are not lost, and reinstall Windows. In that order. If that is not an option, we may be able to help with grabbing your documents/files/etc and reinstalling Windows, provided you have access to another computer & can download files from the internet.
I would normally recommend doing it yourself with a live Linux distro and Windows disk as its a good learning experience, but not sure that would be the best option in this particular case.
Actually I'm turning 12 on the 28th
I'm also a programmer, but I'm still very new to it
Do you have access to another computer with administrator access to download a fairly large file and create a live flash drive? Do you have a Windows disk on hand, and do you have a portable hard drive or the like that you could copy all your files to?
lol looking at this thread 4 years later, this text is here so nobody thinks I care about this anymore

You shouldn't be using Windows XP anymore anyway.
