So yesterday I tried to turn on my computer because I leave it off at night. I turned it on, and out of no where I get an error. The error is " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". Pressing any key just makes the error message repeat. Since I've tried using my motherboards boot disc and nothing happens, putting in my windows 7 installation disc gets rid of the error, but none of the options on the disc work. Not system repair, not system restore, not restore from a pre-made image, nothing. I couldn't even re-install windows because it couldn't locate the drivers or my hard drive.
So far I have only found one other person with this problem on windows forums, and he said changing out the hard drive fixed it.
If anyone knows fix this problem I could use some help. I really hope my hard drive isn't broken, I have had it less than a year and don't think it would break that quickly.
If under warranty still, send it back for a new one. If you have information stored on it you absolutely need, certain people can recover it, though at quite steep rates (IIRC, a ex-member of this forum charged somewhere around $500 per 1GB of information). Otherwise, cheapest thing to do is just replace the drive.

I've already bought a new one, it would be nice to get my data back, but I'm not spend a ridiculous amount of money for minecraft data and youtube videos I never got around to posting. Thanks anyway. Since I have found the problem and fixed it, you should lock the thread.

The cables are fine, the hard drive was just plain broke, I still don't know why it's not working.
