I built my pc about.... 9 months ago give or take, its pretty high end, but when comparing to others, it always got out preformed by others (majorly) his is expected with most PCs if the comparison has different parts that are better, but... compared to my friends I have a similar setup minus my gpu. They have a 780 (not sure of the brand) and I have a r9 280x. I'm aware this card is a bit weaker then there's (at least I think so) but the issue im having seems to rely more on the cpu.
I have a 4771 oc at 3.9gh and they have a 4770. So they are very similar from my understanding. Their PC runs SO much better when it comes to live streaming or recording video games like minecraft or civ 5 (we both use dxtory) my entire computer just tanks shooting me down to 20fps when playing at fps60-120 normally.
Now that story is out of the way, is my hardware not compatible in some jaw dropping way? Or is there some other reason?
last thing, I'm thinking about getting a new gpu because one of the fans in my current one died so its sitting at a constant 50+C so should I get a 780ti because I also edit videos and such? or r9 290x because well... its cheaper and has quiet a bit of power for the price
watch dogs... hits my gpu hard, but thats because of what nividia did with amd cards, and one of my fans being broken (thus requiring a new gpu)
I'm more worried about the huge fps drop when trying to record minecraft honestly, i mean.... its freaking minecraft, that should run butter smooth
no..... im pretty sure integrated graphics of an intel chip wont give me 60fps in metal gear and 50fps in watch dogs (especially if its over heating like that)
plus, my monitors are using my gpu, so i know it isnt using integrated

Are you using 64-bit Java? 32 bit will severely limit your framerates on minecraft. As for recording, If you are using DxTory and compressing to x264 on the fly, that takes a LOT of CPU power. Turn down the x264 settings. If you are recording uncompressed video, that takes a lot of hard drive bandwidth and space. Either one could be a bottleneck.
As for you guys saying minecraft doesn't use your GPU, you don't know much about computers do you?

Is that GPU good or no? I can't find it anywhere.

I'm using 64 bit java, minecraft has 4gb of ram (of 16 total) dedicated to it, my CPU is far from being capped out along with my ram.
As for the mods I have optfine and pixelmon, minecraft runs worse without optifine thanks to Multi-core settings. Pixelmon runs exactly like vanilla without opfine
Fraps codec is the only thing that shoots over 60FPS but doesnt actually capture any footage unless I use fraps itself (and I hate fraps) (unless I'm recording a different game, then lagarith lossless records metal gear rising just fine at 60fps) I dont use x264, I got it to try it and it caps out my CPU like you said because of compression recording games at 11fps
the drive I use to record has a 105mb/s write speed I even tried 3 different hdd with all the same results (none are ssd)
As for me saying minecraft doesnt use the GPU worded that....really poorly, from my understanding minecraft is mainly CPU and RAM based and doesnt use the gpu that much unless you use shaders I could be wrong, and it may use it far more thne what I'm thinking
I know its using my GPU because I see the temperature jump a few degrees. Whats weird though is that you'd think performance wouldnt tank as much as it does if I turn on opengl. I don't think I'm using integrated graphics because all my monitors are coming out of my gpu and not my mobo, but I guess I could be wrong

MC is not RAM based, you just need half a GB to run it. MC is about half and half CPU and GPU, sometimes leaning slightly towards the CPU.

you do know all of that is 100% cpu based because minecraft doesnt use the gpu right?

I don't know if I'm reading this right but minecraft does use your gpu I'm 99% sure of that.
no?

You've understood wrong. Minecraft uses almost all of the components equally.
