i love minecraft but i got a new computer and the gpu isnt for gaming, can someone help? whar gpu upgrades can i get?
Hello everyone, i need to upgrade my video card and i was wondering what my cpu and mother board could handle:
SPECS:
Memory: 2gb Ram
HDD: 80GB
CPU: Intel core 2 duo
GPU: Q965 Express (want to upgrade so i can play games)
Type: low profile desktop
MOTHERBOARD: Board: Hewlett-Packard 0A54h
Serial Number: 2UA7240JS0
Bus Clock: 1066 megahertz
BIOS: Hewlett-Packard 786E1 v02.10 04/13/2007

please tell me what graphics cards my motherboard and cpu can handle, and they need to be low profile D:
Upgading your GPU will not help you as the whole setup in general is not designed for gaming at all. That 1.86 Ghz processor is way to slow to handle any game other than pacman smoothly, the minumum for Minecraft being 2.6 Ghz.
Oh, you're sooo smart. I never said "GHz means performance". I said that "the clock speed on that cpu is too low for the computer to be able to handle the amount of data Minecraft needs to run properly". Which is the case.

I'm going to drop my 2600k down to 1.5GHz just to prove you wrong. Give me 5 mins.
Welp, wouldn't let me drop the multiplier below 16, but 1.6GHz is still low enough. Averaging around 50-70fps on max vanilla settings (well, minus render distance) with a HD 7870.
Edit: It's fluctuating between 120-130 now after letting it sit for a while.

Annnyway, back on topic.. adding a dedicated graphics card would improve your framerate in Minecraft and other games, but options would be very limited given the circumstances. It has a PCIe x16 slot, but I don't like the chances of there being a substiantial PSU in there & there's every chance there may not be enough space.

That computer, is a POTATO, I'm not joking, 80GB of ram? Thats impossible to play with, 2 ram? I know I have only 4 but 2 is really bad, thats only enough for your computer, not even minecraft. I really would suggest a new computer alltogether.

I'm not about to go back and test again though. That slowed my system overall to a sluggish chug at 1GHz and it was kind of painful to use.
My CPU/mobo are hard limited to 16, lowest possible base ratio as allowed by factory. *shrugs*
Was that framerate just sitting there or were you actually walking around? Interesting that you got a higher result than me with a lower speed. System is perfectly usable for me at 1.6GHz though, photoshop runs fine, everything is as zippy as it usually is... strange.
I was walking around. What was your Advanced OpenGL setting on? That might have influenced something.
Other than that, maybe it's just the different maps?
Advanced OpenGL setting is missing altogether, so i'll assume that it's off. Other than that, probably just different maps + combination of Advanced OpenGL being off.

As for a GPU for OP... http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814150677
But I really don't know if it's worth spending that on the PC, nor if it would actually fit and have enough power supplied to it.
OP may have trouble getting it to fit in that case trust me i dealt with these types of computers and once you open it its a pain in the ass to close it and also its pretty crowded in the case aswell

I work with low profile systems in the education department regularly, and they are all similar in specs and size to the PC that the OP has. That card will probably fit if the PCI slots aren't on risers, it's just the PSU that i'd be worried about.
Lol, this kid was posting on PlanetMinecraft, and someone asked for his budget, and no reply, and some kid recommended a gt610, and no one even replied to that.
The other time, some dude came on there calling everyone trying to help idiots (there were some on there)
As for the 240, I'd go with the 250, it's a bit faster, and can run games better. The 240 is a big step down from the 250. The 250 can run BF4, med settings, 45-55 fps. The 240 can run it on low, at like 15-20 fps.
Why would you buy a refurbished computer that's years old? You hardly even have an upgrade path with that thing. Heck, I would just return it and get something else instead of throwing more money into it.

Nobody's perfect, so neither is Hannah Montana Linux, but it's pretty great.

They all suck. They just suck differently. Sort of like prostitutes.
Upgrading won't do anything until you upgrade that CPU. (RYZEN 3-5 is an affordable choice) Source: I made a computer with a core 2 duo and a 1050ti. I thought CPU bottlenecking was a myth... But no. On CPU intensive programs like GTAV CSGO and Minecraft can play horribly but sniper elite 3 runs butter smooth.

Wait, you got a "new" computer?
