At just a little over that budget, you can get this, which is more powerful. If you can't afford the extra money, and don't mind a non-modular PSU, just grab the XFX 550W.
Thanks for the build. I don't know too much about processors, which would you say is better? the AMD FX 8350 or the i5? And would the aftermarket cooler be practical on it?
The i5. And the after market cooler would be useless.
Thanks for the input, I'll look into that, and not having to get the CPU cooler will open more options for me! Also would you provide a few details on why the i5 is better? I know its significantly newer. Just want the details
So I did a little research online, looking at multiple sources and opinions and its come down to this.
The i5 is generally better for gaming The FX 8350 is better for multi-threaded applications, streaming, and editing.
I think overall, gaming will be my main focus, while streaming and editing would be nice its definitely not a priority, with the fall semester coming up, and knowing myself, I'll be too busy to even want to stream anyways.
Thanks everyone for the help, and thanks Graph, I'll be going for a system similar to what you configured above!

Assuming that "multithreaded" means always using more than six cores, and that your editing program is similarly well-threaded. The i5 also has Quick Sync.
I've been doing a little research as well as posting around elsewhere on the internet and I've gotten a few suggestions from other people that I would like to get opinions on from you guys.
- Some people told me that if I change my MOBO and get the i5 3470 instead of the 4460, it would be a little cheaper and the performance would be almost identical. Thoughts?
- If viable I considered doing the above OR upgrading the 4460 to the 4590, would the performance on the 4590 be any more significant than the 4460 to justify its price bump?
How much are you spending on it? It should be enough but it isn't too fantastic. Might be able to get a better psu for the same price or just a couple of dollars more.

I'd prefer not to spend much more than $60 on it
I'll go ahead and throw this question in here. I plan on buying a decent SSD later down the road, would it be practical to install the OS on there once it has already been installed on the HDD?
Awesome thanks guys, no aftermarket cooler it is. I'm just thinking of all the ways I can optimize this system. I'll be ordering the parts soon and I'll upload build pictures onto here as soon as I'm finished. Cable management is something I'm looking to spend a lot of time on and get it so that it's in good shape. So if anyone has suggestions for that let me know. As far as the build goes, if anyone has anymore suggestions I'd love to hear them!
Hmm, one question I'm not sure was answered outright. Would this system be okay with playing Minecraft/ESO while doing some recording/streaming at the same time? Just a question I'm curious about.

How about the 4590 over the 4460?
Ok, thanks for all the help.
How about the GPU. The R9 270X over the R9 280 3G?
Sweet, now here's my biggest concern, my PSU, Will a 500W be sufficient be enough for this build?
Depends on the 500w.
Its the Corsair CX500M ATX 12V 80+ Bronze Semi-Modular. CrossFire ready.

Yeah, it wouldn't be needed as the 4460 isn't unlocked so you can't do any overclocking, the stocked cooler should be fine.
Again, thanks everyone for all the help.
Thanks!
