Hey guys I just though it would share the mysteries of .9 being solved. .9 repeating, like every repeating decimal, is actually a geometric series, and since it gets smaller with everyvterm, it's sum can be found...
This is why I never agree with people when it comes to representing the world via mathematical expression. Its never logically, or even conceptually sound. Ever.
Just a bunch of numbers that come to a certain result when certain factors are plugged in, then everyone jumps on the bandwagon "BECAUSE ITS NOW FACT, THE MATH SAYS SO."

I don't quite understand how .9 repeating is representing the world?! haha perhaps explain further ^.^

I always wanted to argue with a brick wall, I suppose the internet is the second best option.

It isn't, but it easily could be a portion of a grander attempt at such. I was extrapolating on this to provide my opinion on what its usually wrapped up with.

I agree with Acetyl. It's pointless to try proving 0,9 = 1 or 1 + 1 = 3 etc., because it doesn't make any sense. A number is a number, deal with it. If I say "0,9" I mean "0,9", and NOT "1".
End of.

Cigarettes are like squirrels. They're perfectly harmless until you put one in your mouth and light it on fire.

I am not trying to use a work around or some clever trick. This is the algebraic proof on why .9 *repeating is the same as 1. .9 is only .9

There is so much evidence as to why .9...=1, it's not even funny. But people like me will continue to believe otherwise just because we simply refuse to accept it.

I would tell you about how awesome I am down here, but I have a feeling you probably already know that. <- Please. ._.

The thing is it actually makes sense! Every 9 down the line brings you closer to 1.
EXPERIMENT TIME! Take a regular piece of paper. Cut it in half, and place one half down. Now take the remaining half, and cut that in half, and set it down. (Now you have a fourth). So just keep cutting the piece in half, setting it down, and then cutting the remaining piece in half. Every time it gets closer to one, and done to infinity, equals one. The equation, the same one from my video, has the starting term of .5, and a rate of .5. The equation for the sum is (n)/(1-r) which is .5/.5, which is one.
It really isn't a trick like 4+5 is 25 or something like that. It is just solid math.

This explains the thinking:
1=.999...
Because 1/3 = .333...
However 3/3 = .999...
But it also equals 1, so, according to the theory, .9999... = 1.
True, but I do believe your way ended up breaking some mathematical rules in regards to repeating decimals.
The war has begun.

1/9 * 9 = .11111111111111..... * 9
9/9 = .99999999999......
1 = .99999999999999....
