i think windows is in the hundreds right now for desktops and servers
Servers can have up to a terabyte or more of RAM, but that's not the point. The point is that the person thought that having 32 GB of ram would make their computer faster, even though it wouldn't really.
Actually, an AMD based server running with linux can address up to about 200(?) Petabytes by hard code. that is 200x10^1024
Intel can only go up to 128 for now.
If he was doing some high graphics, it will remain stable.... so to speak.
One of my classmates, "I just bought a solid state drive." My eye fidgets from my own opinion that I bitterly bit back, my response is, "Oh nice, how large is it?" He then said, "It's 240Gbs! I am going to use it as a boot drive." Now I was nearly about to snarl, "And what of your hard drive?"
"Oh, it will be storing my games and stuff."

Lol, I can't see a reason for getting anything larger than a 64GB SSD to be used solely as a boot drive. I have a 128GB SSD and I would have my games installed on there, but it will fill up pretty quick. Right now I've only got BF3 on it because I've got at least 60GB probably in Steam games compared to my one Origin game.

Nobody's perfect, so neither is Hannah Montana Linux, but it's pretty great.

They all suck. They just suck differently. Sort of like prostitutes.
If I ever do decide to buy an SSD, no way in hell am I using it as a boot drive :/.
Are you saying that you wouldn't install Windows on it? Unless you are using the SSD as cache for the HDD I don't see a reason not to use an SSD as a boot drive...

Windows is just useful for games and general use in my opinion, while I think OSX is useful for work, art, etc.
The only reason I can see to use OSX for work is if you absolutely need Mac specific software. There are plenty of great programs on Windows for professional use as well, not just OSX.
I would also like to add that I believe Linux may be the new choice for gamers on a budget now that Valve is working on getting Steam to run natively on Linux. Hopefully if they are successful this will mean better graphical drivers on Linux and more support for games as well.

He : "Well, DUH. Every game has virusses, wow of all people I'd expect you to know that."
Me : "Why would games do tha-"
He : "BECAUSE THEY CAN AND WANT TO , DUH."
Me : "I think you've got the wrong -"
Him : "Wow you're dumb."
photoshop, sony vegas and alot of other great programs run on windows
still gonna be a while until company's start making games for Linux.
Blizzard already supports Linux in house they said they do not want to release for fear of driver issues.
If Valve can help get Linux drivers improved it will help.

I wouldn't till the price on them aren't so ridiculous. To me, it's wasting a good deal of space for it's price for something that only needs to be booted once. I don't mind taking a bathroom break while my computer is loading. I'd much rather have that four gigs of space used on something else.
Some people I know appear to think that OS determines how much muscle the computer has.
This image is a fail because it appears to be iOS on a Droid:
I made a webpage for a group's website (just one webpage, nothing else). The website was an ASP.NET. Once I was done, I submitted the finished webpage to the webmaster/designer and he uploaded it, it turned up broken. I never use ASP, but I eventually found out the webpage had an invalid Inherits property. Nothing I could do here really, because not only do I not know what the VS project is, but the web designer thought a mixture of C# and VB were causing the problems. >.<
Ever find it funny how we live in a world centered around technology but no one knows how it works. And then schools teach kids about macs saying they are the future when in reality its Linux and windows./help
Very true. I'd love to see Linux pop up in more schools. It would enhance education, and it'd be funny to see the teachers freak out when they get hack.sh.
Me: "Damn, this iPod is so slow"
Girl: "Try restoring it, and freeing up some of those speed thingys... Uhh.. Megabytes! Yea!"
I literally just didn't know what to say... That awkward moment.

"A TV is better then a monitor for gaming"
"valve isnt a game publisher"
Also AWESOME i got the lava bucket. Me Gusta
Well I really wouldn't call Valve a Publisher as they also release games unless you consider Mojang a Publisher.

My response: "NOOOOoooo it's a freaking spider on a web in front of a ******** nuclear explosion!"
And note... I did just list three things of the computer field. Kuddos to those who can figure it out.
