Hello; I'm new here. This is my first post. Now that we got that over with...
Okay; I'm thinking of getting a new cell phone. What do you guys think would be a good choice? And what carrier would be good?
If you're interested, I already have an iPad, I live in the US, and my budget is $300 MAX (probably covers all price ranges). It's really not the initial price that really matters so much as the monthly fee.
Well, an advantage of the iPhone is that...there are only three models! With Android, there are a crazy number of companies who make a crazy amount of phones. I don't even know what their differences are! And beyond that, both the iOS and the Android OSes have their advantages and disadvantages. So I want some input from the *ahem* forum regulars on what they think is better.
I feel so honored to actually communicate with you guys! Previously, I have only been a listener for your enlightening debates for a year-plus.
I look at my mom's phone all the time(it's Android) and I really don't like the OS very much... and also with iOS, I believe you have a bigger app selection(not 100% sure).
Yeah, I know that the apps are in greater quantity and are more aesthetically pleasing, but I already have the iOS experience on my iPad. Then again, I can sync both devices together via iCloud, IIRC (whatever that means ).
And not only that, I know that Android is easier to jailbreak/root, but since I probably won't be doing any of that stuff, that's a moot point.
EDIT: I just remembered another advantage of Android phones - their screens crack less easily!
Galaxy S III is one of the best Android phones on the market (or it is the best)
Get an iPhone if you really need one but the Galaxy S III is a great choice
Android is now a large competitor for iOS with Jelly Bean on its way it should be a nice upgrade from Ice Cream Sandwich
Well I think an iPhone would be awesome, but I don't have one.. sadly..
I'd agree on getting the iPhone (I only have the iOS Simulator ). It'll be much easier to maintain the content you have on both devices than it would to have mixed devices. You'll have to look up each carrier's coverage map and rates to figure out what would be the best for you. If you choose an iPhone, maybe wait for the iPhone 5.
Wow; that will put all the other products on the market to shame. (/sarcasm)
Just to let you guys know, an important part of this is the carrier. After all, the cell phone plan is something I'll be stuck forever with!
EDIT: Didn't see you comming, MrAppDev. I'm assuming you're talking about iCloud. I'll take that into consideration.
FYI, I'm posting on my iPad right now. What a pain in the @$$ it is to type with!
Iphone works fine for me, the only issue is you can't set a song or to e to play when you get a message, you have to choose from defaults.
(unless you jailbreak of course ;))
Well iphone , you get a pretty good phone , but expensive . Alot of androids are more powerful , and some aren't . Cheaper androids USUALLY not always have lower res screens but its not to much of a problem. Blackberry if you wanna text a ton , but android is more customizable . You can get a diff. lockscreen, and live wallpapers , a different launcher even, all without rooting , as with iphone you have to jailbreak .
go with the galaxy s3 galaxy nexus or the droid razr maxx
maybe the lg spectrum if you root it
Believe me android smokes ios
Why do you think Apple is suing Google, samsung, htc
Steve Jobs (cofounder of apple) said this: "I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this."
Why does it matter that he has an iPad? Am i missing something?
Because, if I have an iPhone, I can theoretically "sync" music and stuff with my iPad.
Still, the Galaxy III seems interesting. The 4G's probably going to be awesome. Unfortunately, if I get an Android, then I'll miss out on Siri, but that feature is probably overrated anyways.
They would connect to each other I believe. And it's probably easier just having to learn 1 OS.
It's called iCloud, I believe. For example, I got a song on my PC (and by extension, that iPod I never use ), and it showed up on my iPad's iTunes app. That may or may not be useful.

I haven't followed the mobile phones scene for a few months. Let others reply with good suggestions.
Why? (Also, it's probably too late, as I have it on my iPad.)

Is that really a big deal. People seem to have done just fine dealing with at least two (any given desktop and mobile OS).
Siri is pathetic.
Interesting. What devices is Android Jellybean on?
Something inside me says that that video is rigged, though...
