In my opinion Macs have bigger CPUs therefore have larger memory and therefore again they are better gaming computers. But like the 2 people above me it all depends on the Specs.
Macintosh computer CPU's are no larger physically than any other CPU. They also aren't higher performance than other CPUs. In fact, they are those other CPUs because Mac machines use I ntel hardware now.
Second, there is no correspondence between the size of a CPU and the size of memory. Of course this begs the question of whether you are indicating that you believe these components are physically larger which somehow indicates they are better or whether by "size" you mean quality and ability. If the latter, than you are mistaken, since they use the same hardware. If the former, I have a awesome hercules graphics card to sell you, it fills up the entire PC case so it must be good, right?
For the OP's question, Minecraft on a Mac will run about the same as it will on a Windows or Linux machine with the same hardware. This depends on the specs of the machine itself, not the brand or what OS it runs.
IIRC there is a (so small you might as well not even bother with it) slowdown with Java on OS-X for some technical reason that was too much for me to be arsed to remember. However, this slowdown as I already stated, is not even worth looking at, really. IIRC it amounted to slightly less than ~100MHz CPU clock difference to compensate.
Actually I rather wish I could find the site.... They did all sorts of tests like this with software ranging from generic java/python/etc. programs to AAA business and professional software, testing the memory differences, timing differences and other things between the 3 platforms on a fresh install.
If anyone remembers it, do post.
This here is ********.
Macs suck in everyway but hardware. And what do you mean buys Windows? The computer or the OS or the entire company service (Microsoft)? I can tell you that a custom build with have better hardware than a Mac.
The hardware is almost identical and in some cases is identical to any other computer or parts.
Macs as computers do not suck, they are just overpriced and come with an undesirable OS for most people. But as hardware, machines, themselves, they do not suck no. They certainly suck for the price, but the hardware inside, compared to any other hardware from Newegg or otherwise is almost exactly the same.

Reminds me of this:
On topic, macs cost more for the same hardware (at least compared to most places where you can get a computer), but you're less likely to get a virus, and for some people the operating system looks better. However, I think it does have more security holes (not sure), and it is more restirctive on what you can do.
If you're on a budget, then don't get a mac. If you have unlimited money, then do whatever you want.
No, you are not.
In the vast scheme of things, yes, but only because Windows and Microsoft have such as vast marketshare.
Otherwise, you would not be more likely to get a virus on either.
In its current state, you are less likely to get a virus on mac os. If its market share increased, then it would change, but for now, macs are less likely to be infected (note that I didn't say, "better" or "more well-protected").
The whole reason macs don't get viruses as often is because most people use pc's. if you were making viruses would you make it for 90%(pc) of the world or 10%(mac) (just showing a difference here). thus, more virus makers target pc's.
And saying macs are a piece of crap for the price has some arguments to it. for one, you can't compare it to prices on newegg because its not a prebuilt computer from a company ready to go, you need to compare it to other brands like dell and HP and etc. If you were to compare it with Newegg, that is like comparing it to say a prebuilt desk and a desk that you would buy the wood, stain, and other things separate and make it yourself. yes they are still overpriced hardware wise but you get some great software with it like iMovie, garageband, and etc. They are much better programs that come with the machine compared to windows. after all of that, yes Apple is a little more expensive, but doesn't seem too crazy.
that is like comparing it to say a prebuilt desk and a desk that you would buy the wood, stain, and other things separate and make it yourself.
Not really. It's like comparing a desk that you would buy completely built, versus an Ikea desk, where you just need to slot things in the correct places, and it's hard to mess up.
I've currently got two mac's one running on Snow Leopard and one running on Lion, there both running on 10.6.+ they beat my windows computer with a intel core i7 processor and the mac's still beat it on i5

I doubt you're saying that without a catch. What models are the processors? I've heard that a 1st generation i7 CPU will give the same capabilities & benchmarks as a Sandy Bridge i5 CPU.
Are you basing it off experience or actual benchmarks? What are the specs of both your Mac & Windows PC?

The only difference between macs and PCs are the OS and the hardware manufacture, right?
Anyway, I find these Mac vs. PC wars stupid. In my school paper they actually had the audacity to make two seperate articles, one on why you should get a mac and one on why you should get a PC. However, they were basically just why the other sucked and the pair were actually titled, 'Mac vs. PC.' I mean, really? We aren't even out of high school yet and you are already indoctrinating us into your petty arguments? I lost a good deal of respect for the journalism teacher, and I lost the rest that I had after a certain horrible political article which I will not detail here.
In fact, I'm going to move the HP discussion to another thread.
Thanks for moderating this section.

Anyway, as someone said on page one, given equal hardware Minecraft should run more or less the same on OSX vs Windows(far as I know.)
Apple's special versions of Java may come into play.
Well every version of Java is "special" it varies by OS.
I haven't 'heard" anything saying it's any slower, but I don't have a Mac, so, couldn't comment.
Does that explain the "SE" in my Java?

I feel these are relevant here.
