I'm not sure why people say this one either. I've had the current video card in this thing for a few years now, and it's a powercolor. Really it's usually dumb luck if a video card goes out or not, it's like getting DOA parts. Granted some brands have a better track record than others, but really.
Hey, what do ya know, I have a 6950 from PowerColor and it's holding up really good. (Despite that I got it during Christmas). I've seen a lot of people complain about them even though, IMO PowerColor is a good brand. They even still put the dual-bios switch on their 6950 2GB.
It's not about the GPU itself, it's about who manufactures the card. (E.g. MSi, Sapphire, EVGA, Gigabyte, PowerColor, XFX, etc..)
Exactly this.
Nine times out of ten (I'd even go as far to say almost literally all the time) the faulty card will be at fault of the manufacturer, not Nvidia or AMD/ATi unless the rare case where the card was actually made by them in-house without a 3rd party, though those are usually only given to promotional sites and sometimes sold in retail stores like best buy or staples.

They might be getting better.
What happened was they had this very......... very bad streak of just absolute crap quality control that really killed their reputation.

The point was that both AMD cards and Nvidia cards are good, anyone trying to shun one for the other and say they're just better in general may as well be another apple fanboy to me. Ignorant, both companies make good stuff they just fight back and forth over who controls what pricepoint for quality.
