no Nvidia card is worth it in your budget, the 6850 beats the living daylights out of the 550ti, and the GTX 460 is getting old, this will let you get a upgrade when you need it, but it is $50 over, you could change the graphics card to a 6790 but the 6850 would be a more solid option

This. If you are really cash-strapped, then get 4 gigs of ram.
Ahh, nice. Is the CPU good for gaming at all? Can it be overclocked?
Can't be overclocked, but you don't need that. That cpu will run bf3 on maximum settings. That whole build will, actually. I have that card and a worse cpu and I run bf3 on ultra playably.
Now this. Maybe drop the card down to a 6870 and get a cpu cooler or a better motherboard.
Man you took to using that case as your go to budget case pretty quickly. Glad I found it.

yeah, sad part is that i3 smokes my Phenom and it was cheaper XD same goes for the motherboard :/ ah well
yeah that case is dang nice, kinda hoping for a new generation of HAF cases though, would like to see a $10 price drop at least on the 912
Well, I was mainly thinking because I play a game that depends 80% on the CPU. Well, this most likely will be my build. The main reason why I want Nvidia is because IMO they last longer, I've had an Nvidia for 5 years so far with absolutely no problems, unlike my dad's work rig where the AMD GPU died within 1 year.

I'll one-up you with my PRO budget case. A little flimsy though, and one of the HDD lights don't work (it's best not to use them at all, I plan on trying to buy my own and hooking those up somehow) but for 25 bucks it's worth it, especially if you're only on a $600 budget. The case comes with NO manual, so hopefully you know how to set it all up yourself, OP...(hence why I call it the PRO budget case)

Kinda hope they make a haf like series at budget prices without looking like an armored transformer or tank like contraption. Bleh.
The one think I like about amd is you get a damn nice motherboard for the price. For $180 I got a board that takes 4 way sli, 6 sata 3 connectors, huge northbridge heatsink, usb 3 on the back panel, lots of other back ports and no video output, ultra tough components, and it looks nice too. Equivalent features on an intel board: about $230, maybe more.

That is not true, amd and nvidia are equal with quality and performance. You would say you hate nvidia if your dad had an nvidia card and it died quickly. It happens to everyone.

Ehh, I would rather stick to Intel and Nvidia design anyways. Overall the architecture is better, and they always seem to last longer.

Proof? And what do you mean the architecture is better? AMD currently has the best architecture and fasted gpu out there. And what do you mean they seem to last longer? Do you have 10 years of experience working with hundreds of computers to say which one generally lasts longer?(not saying I do)
I will agree that intel is better for processors though.
This is why people prefer crap like Alienware, it works once so they must assume they all work that way.
10 different Nvidia cards, and not having 1 fail on me is one? We have a business where all of the cards are put to the test, only Nvidia has worked for us.

Not to be a jerk, but this is quite the obvious lie.
I run my own business and have never seen one brand better than the other, usually the problems come from the card manufacturers (sapphire, MSi, gigabyte, etc.) rather than the GPUs themselves. As for Intel and AMD, they are on even footing in terms of value, it just depends on what you use it for and your budget (although unless you are doing number crunching/code compiling for a living, any budget between $50 for a CPU and $300+ for a CPU will be intel anyways, at lease for this product cycle).
10 is such a small statistical sample it might as well not exist.
Intel's architecture is slightly better, yes, but not to the point where it is significant.

Okay, how about me, I've had nothing but AMD/ATI cards for the last about, 10 years. I haven't liked any of them because my system was always terrible and they were cheaper ones. But I've NEVER had one go out, I had one that lasted about 6 years before the PROCESSOR died.
Really don't give BS because you had one card die then you keep buying Nvidia ones, if anything that's like fanboy nonsense. If you want to overpay for the worse competitor at a price mark just because you seem to think your knowledge is superior to ours or something, go wild.

It's not about the GPU itself, it's about who manufactures the card. (E.g. MSi, Sapphire, EVGA, Gigabyte, PowerColor, XFX, etc..)
AMD & Nvidia are always trading blows when it comes to releasing new GPUs. Like currently AMD has the fastest single GPU (Radeon HD7970) and then when Nvidia releases their next generation of GPUs, they might take the lead.

I'm not sure why people say this one either. I've had the current video card in this thing for a few years now, and it's a powercolor. Really it's usually dumb luck if a video card goes out or not, it's like getting DOA parts. Granted some brands have a better track record than others, but really.
Nvidia graphics
Intel processor
I have a HDD already, $600. Needs to run minecraft with at least 50 FPS max.
