-snip- Story 3
There is a crash, and everyone in the room turns round. What do we see? That same girl from story one walking to the back of the room to retrieve her keyboard.
Here ya go. These people are similar to the people on the OP.

This computer is soooo AWESOME!It is so quiet you don't even know it is running.I would highly recommend alien-ware to anybody. They say you pay for what you get,if that is true then I'd owe Dell a whole lot more, all I can say is "Thank You Dell"!!!!!!!
Story 1
I'm in computer class, and we are learning about computer parts.
Teacher: What is the part that processes most of the data?
Me: The CPU.
My Class: OH MY JESUS HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT?!?!?!?!
Me: Uh guys, it is actually pretty simple knowledge...
Story 2
This isn't really a story, just something that gets on my every last nerve. My school has Dell Dimension 330s, lots of them. They are slow and unreliable as crap in my opinion. So much that we get at least 2 BSoDs a day. It seems EVERY time we have a blue screen, we need to hire some technician to fix it. NO, you just press the ROUND power button on the front of the case and let it restart. Those computers are so far screwed from the 5 or more years of students sticking gum into the floppy drives (Yes, it is nasty) and downloading hidden trojans that there is nothing we can do about it...

Do you live in a rich school district? I just find that rich kids think they are computer geeks but don't know jack **** and all own macs. The way it is at my school.
I guess technically i do. The district claimed to be in debt and were cutting staff but they just built a brand new football stadium (it even has skyboxes -___-), a brand new high school, and they are completely redoing the existing high school. Most kids that go to my school are in the mid range i guess. Our school still uses those old ass dell's so they don't really pay much attention to the technology part of the school.
I was talking to my friend about how I was planning on building a pc. Here goes the convo
Me: I can finally play btf3 with you after I get my new computer!
Him: So how much are you paying for it?
Me: Im still saving but im going for $850
Him: Lol, just get a alienware their the best you can get.
Me: You serious?
Him: Yeah they can max anything!
Me: But building your own saves tons of money
Him: Lol! You have no idea how to code a computer, it will take years!

Not really a stupid thing I've heard someone say, but more of a stupid thing someone has done.
In around 2009 our computer got some kind of virus and wouldn't start up. We took it to the local computer store to get it fixed, because at the time I had no knowledge on computers what-so-ever. They said that it couldn't be fixed. We got a new computer and stored the other one in our basement. 2 years later (2011) I tried to fix it just for something to do. I pressed spammed a key when it was starting up and "Factory Restore" came up. I then proceeded to follow the instructions and fix it.
TL;DR: I, someone who at the time had little knowledge on computers, managed to fix something "professionals" couldn't.

Seriously? That's usually their first way to fix it for most part, they might know other ways but refuse to put out more than 5% of effort.

"I used to work in tech support for a company in Sweden. Once a guy called and started talking in English. Well, I speak fairly fluent English, so this wasn't a problem. So I spoke English back, and we started troubleshooting his problem. After a little while I started to suspect something was up with this guy, because he didn't always seem to understand what I was saying, and he often fumbled for words.
Right then, I heard a door open in the background, and a voice said, in Swedish, 'Ready to go to lunch, Sten?' He answered in perfect Swedish.
I put the customer on hold and tried not to spit my coffee out from laughing so hard. When he came back on the phone, he spoke in English, and I spoke in Swedish. After about five more minutes of him following my instructions, he said to me in English, 'Hang on. I can't understand Swedish. Please speak English.' The rest of the conversation was in english."
Sorry if I'm bumping this thread sort of, but I have to share this.
As my friend and I were walking to our homeroom from Gifted Ed, I said that this weekend I think I'm going to buy parts for my build. "Why not just buy one?"
At library, I told them I was ready to buy, and then a person at my table said:
"Why build it? Buying one is cheaper."
Then we started talking about computers. "My cousin's really good with computers," one of my friends said.
"Does he have Alienware?," I asked.
"I think so," he said.
"How long has he had it?"
"About 5 years."
In my previous job i sold PCs and hardware.
One day a customer, who bought a TV-card an hour or so, ago returned to the store really angry.
"The card you sold me doesn't work, windows won't even recognize it."
After opening the case i had to bite my tongue to stop from bursting with laughter:
- The PC had a miniITX-Mainboard
- the TV-card was mounted in the last PCI-slot of the case
- the mainboard stopped 2 slots above that
I didn't know where to start explaining
So it wasn't even plugged into the motherboard? lmao these people are silly.
Had a kid tell me today that ssd's were overpriced, outdated, and did nothing for performance. I then tried to explain that they had much faster load times, were not outdated, and were so expensive because the transfer rate on them is amazing. He then called me an idiot who knew nothing about computers. I then showed him an article all about SSD's and when he read it he said that they are stupid and the article is outdated. This was all in my computer science class where everyone is supposed to know about computers.
Here it goes, today I was talking to my friend and he has macs and he said he likes them. I said there overpriced and you can get a lot better for cheaper. He said you can't get a computer for $2500 thats better than a mac for $2500....
I built my own computer in 2012, Specs are: Intel i3-2100, Amd radeon 5570, 8GB of ram, 500GB Hard drive, Antec One case, Z77A G43 Motherboard, OCZ 600W PSU. Windows 7 64 Bit.

Him: Did you finish that computer you built?
Me: Yes
Him: Dude what do you need that for?
Me: Well, gaming, video editing, intensive stuff like that.
Him: Dude why dont you use a Xbox for gaming?
Me: PC's have far superior details in video games than an Xbox.
Him: No! The Xbox has Microsoft hardware?! PC's are not even close to the power of the Xbox.
Me: ...
Some microsoft hardware that is, ATi GPU, IBM CPU, Seagate/WD/whoever hard drive, Toshiba/Samsung/whoever optical drive, Foxconn motherboard and some other miscellaneous things.

The sad thing is that they've fixed the same computer before, for far worse things.
