My mom is getting me a computer , now judging by the price It looks like it could run minecraft well, however can this computer run other games too? I'm not a very computer smart person(Its gibberish to me), anyways the tech stuff is:

Well really the only things we need to know are the GPU, CPU, RAM, Motherboard, and PSU I guess. The rest just makes this look like a total cluster****.
But it looks pretty good. I think the Graphics card could be better, but I could be mistaken.
Not if you do processor intensive stuff. Not everyone games, he may need to encode video.
I don't have to. A laptop will run until it's battery is out. And you can't say a desktop is X times better than a laptop.
If you would actually learn about tech, you would know that a laptop wont run at full performance without being plugged in, when its on its battery it will run games at lower FPS
How is price a bottleneck? And no that is a decent laptop, and it will run mincecraft without a problem.
Im not sure if MC is CPU intensive but i had trouble on my i5 x4 core laptop with a shitty mobile gpu. And the price isnt a bottleneck the amount of performance hes getting will do the same for around $500, so basically your waisting 250$ because you can get the same thing if you downgrade the cpu and get a better gpu.
I'll consider getting a desktop then. Thanks for the heads up.
Laptops also dont last as much as desktops because from what i know the laptop cooling isnt as good as a desktop so it will overheat and last less, my friend has a gaming laptop ($1500) for about a year, and the fan stopped working and the cpu would heat up 100C playing MC, and he had to pay 100$ to replace it but with a desktop he could do it on his own for 50$.
Whats wrong with putting highend MOBILE processor with a MOBILE gpu? It should work pretty well to me. And yes there are also pretty good MOBILE gpus..
True, but desktop is more flexible cuz you dont have to get a new laptop each time, you just upgrade the desktop, you can replace gpu, cpu, ram in both of the systems but i prefer desktop for more advanced gaming.I also forgot to add, if your getting a desktop dont buy retail, because retail from what i seen sticks you with a good cpu but shats on you with a shitty gpu. consider building your own and save some money for better gpu.

i5 6600k 4.6ghz / MSI 280X / 8Gb 2666 DDR4 / Gigabyte Z170X-UD5 / TX550M / 500Gb 850 EVO / NZXT S340 / Corsair K65 / Corsair M60
EDIT
Laptops also wont run full performance if there not plugged in. Desktop is 100x better.
Da **** are you talking about?
Again: Da ****?

If you put a highend processor with a mobile gpu its just gonna cause a bottleneck and u waited alot of money.
GO. TO. TECH. SCHOOL.
750$

Bottleneck. the performance goes around 300$-500$ For the same price you can get a desktop with a decent GPU to atleast run MC.
How is price a bottleneck? And no that is a decent laptop, and it will run mincecraft without a problem.
Go and post a pc build for under $500 that could outperform this laptop with a better gpu and processor.
Include everything, case, psu, hard drive, windows, everything but periferals.

He is not right there. It is a good laptop for the price. But getting a desktop would be better,.
Christoi, xannos, fm87, wolley, where are you guys?

Huh, I guess it works out well then. It's a mobile CPU. Even if I didn't know it was the 2640M, I still know it was a laptop. Thus, mobile parts.

That looks good, but shouldn't he stretch for an i3?

So the i3 is a virtual quad core?
