And where are you going to put it, in your house... :smile.gif: ? You'll also need pretty damn fast connection which isn't going to be cheap. And where do you live in? That will also affect to other people.
I would rather rent the servers with the donated money. You can get very decent servers with just 10-20$ a month.
Not trying to be rude or anything, don't misunderstand me, just pointing out some things :smile.gif:
Depending on where they live, FiOS has a server/business line that is only slightly more expensive than the norm, and gives 50Mb up/down.
Comcast has something similar for businesses, but it's only 30Mb down 10Mb up (which is only 5Mb more than the home connection).
Yeah, that's what I thought of. The latency for european people is going to be horrid. But I guess most of the people here are from US so... :smile.gif:
In my experience, if the server is on the east coast your latency might not be too terrible.
My girlfriend has a friend from Greece that plays L4D with us sometimes and his ping is usually below 100ms.
So was that cost in total for the five finger discount, the mission-impossible ceiling wire drop, and the blowtorch to cut through the roof of the building you stole it from?

i think Moovlin has a server hosting place near his house he's taking it to, think it's like $5 a month to have them maintain it + the internet for it (i think, not positive)
This but I'm not sure of the cost, location is in New York, New York. With a t1 connection.
Can anyone tell me what this "folding" thing is? I'll join in if it's useful
protein folding, it's to try and find cures for diseases, it's something Stanford set up instead of buying a supercomputer, basically it makes your computer run simulations on proteins and then sends the results back

No I dont have fios. Its a mile down the road but they arent expanding down this way. :sad.gif:
Going to see if we might be able to run servers on the side for cash for upgrades, etc.
ALSO
Check OP for news etc. Please donate if you can! It will go towards collocation for the server for the best speeds! So please do so.
It's really sad when a company is at a point that they don't even WANT the money you are ready to throw at them, just to continue the duopoly. :/
:3 no I did not xD
plus I didnt make it.

Lol let me get something functioning on it to show how kickass it is. Maybe Ill throw a server up if I can get a portforward to work.
