I'm not looking for a gaming computer, I don't play much anymore and I don't need the distraction. But I'm looking for a decent computer for around $300 (or less) Cause right now im surviving off a 2007 dell lappy and it can't even run minecraft well haha.
I've searched amazon and looked at some HP's but I don't understand any of the computer specifications at all yet. Help if you could, Thank you.
I am not very experienced but I would know that you should probably be spending a little more in order to get good value. It sounds like you are in need of a cheap computer that is capable with very light gaming some office program and casual web browsing. Am I right? Take a look at Lenovo's IdeapPads or try Newegg.com and see what you can find. Hope you find this advice helpful!
Would you build your own desktop? Because I can link you to some good parts, and it will be higher quality than a prebuilt like hp.Would you build your own desktop? Because I can link you to some good parts, and it will be higher quality than a prebuilt like hp.

Yeah exactly. I really only use my computer for music, school work, and well... minecraft lol. Other than that I don't ever plan on spending time on it playing skyrim or anything. I'll keep that on my xbox lol. Just need windows 2010.

No, I can build a house but not a computer lol.
No such thing as windows 2010. I'll find a good pc for a good price. It can be a desktop right?
Wow don't know what your thinking, looking at $300-$400 pcs, there is nothing middle of the road. They could barely web browse, much less play minecraft at above 20fps.
A CPU is basically the whole thing the computer uses to process everything. 2.4Ghz is around standard for laptops
(Netbooks A.K.A. The big ones ) I'd recommend this and have someone TRUSTED upgrade the RAM. You'd need your own monitor accessories though...

He said its for on the road or for college. I can definitely see your reasoning but I think it would be a portability issue. I don't know exactly. :tongue.gif:

This is true. It's hard to stretch your dollar in this area of technology and would be much better suiting if people honestly looked at their life and thought if portability was really an issue. You can get some killer deals on desktops when buying parts and it shouldn't cost more than 800 dollars for a nice gaming machine. :tongue.gif:
Sorry, absolutely nothing worth getting at this price point unless it's recertified, which you don't want to buy. And I am looking at $300-$400 laptops and desktops. They all have about 2 gigs of ram, a horridly old processor from 2007 and before, and no decent graphics at all(yes graphics matter even if your not gaming, watching movies, editing photos, any of that). Sorry mate, you would be best keeping what you have.
Yeah I want a desk top!
I don't need a laptop nor do I want one anymore.
And seriously thank you guys for anyhelp. I'm staring at HP's on Amazon and kinda bewildered haha.
Are you sure? You seem to have just flipped your decisioning. Are you typing papers in class or taking notes? I don't know where you reside if it's near ''campus'' or not but you would be looking at like 650 bucks for what you are describing. Be careful with HP's. Some of them are quality computers and some of them are death traps.

I use and abuse flash drives lol. I normally do all my work from home so desk top is fine and if I need to do work at the college there are computer labs E V E R Y W H E R E. Only stipulation is windows 7 is a must. But I'll take into consideration what every has said about my price hahaha. I'll take a gander at something a little pricier but better.
the only real option at your budget would be to build your own man :/ i've seen what you can get for $300 in a prebuilt and it's from around 06 at the newest, and it would struggle with Word / browsing the web, but it really isn't that hard to build your computer yourself (trust us on this)

Yeah. It sounds like you don't really want it for too much so I would consider getting a decent prebuilt. Google Shopping never fails. Give her a search.

Build your own, as others said.
A $300-400 prebuilt will get you NOTHING AT ALL.
Building your own will get you at least something usable.

This one isn't too terribly bad for the price, and it will be able to run the internet in 3 years without lagging.
