well thats a bummer! I suggest getting a fully new computer, that way everything is awsome!
Yea. The only problem is my mom doesn't have a lot of money. everything - the card, power thing, labor for them to install - was about 400$ my mom paid 320 since I had 80. she barely had enough money for that. If we had the money we would probably get an alienware M14x

It was a computer my mom got for xmas a year ago. I didn't know computers came in slim or fullsize. Thought they were the same.
Sorry to hear about the money problem! Maybe get a part time job and earn a few bucks on the side?

Yea that's what I want. Sadly I'm a little bit underage for a job (im 14 think you need to be 15) But I do have almost 11$ for making flat maps ^^ ad websites ftw! For right now, minecraftforums is my part time job. Making about 2cents an hour woohoo! XDD
Sorry to insult you like this, but from my perspective this happened because of your own stupidity and lack of foresight.
Before buying a new graphics card, you should always take a look inside your computer and see what bus ports your main frame has.
Then when you shop for a new graphics card, make sure it uses a bus that your computer has.
To make your situation better, try and find a graphics card that fits, although if your computer doesn't have any bus ports above PCI 1.0 you should focus on getting a better computer.
Good luck in your search, and remember, there's people who live in far worse conditions than you.

The reason why I didn't do that is because 1) I don't even know how to take the freakin thing apart 2) I didn't want to ruin anything because knowing me I would 3) I was so excited to get a new graphics card I just wanted to get there 4) I didn't know there was slim/fullsize computers I thought they were the same and 5) I didn't know they need that. Just because you know they have to have certain parts doesn't mean I have to. I thought it would fit just the way it is. I knew they needed to go somewhere but didn't realize they need different sizes in holding it in place. This is not my "Stupidity" or "lack of foresight" I thought all computers were the same (not in ram/cards of course but I bet you know what I mean)

What in the hell does intel have to do with this topic?
Can you give us more details on your computer? We might be able to help you get products that can remedy your situation. Like, what are your current specs? What case? How many watts is your power supply (I believe this is the word you are looking for)
Nah im good. I just gotta do some research online for cards. I just wish I had a normal size tower. The people at bestbuy helped alot.
You realize they are trying to run you around, correct? This is typical for a retail position like this. The people at best buy are no more trained to deal with electronics than the guy serving coffee at the taco stand.
Okay, today I went to bestbuy for a Christmas present from my mom. We were going to get one of the best nvidia cards they had in stock. The bestbuy guy said that our computer needed more power, so we bought a more powerful thing (forget the name :3) so we also bought that. They said we could bring our tower in (it's a desktop) for them to install it. We brought it in about an hour later. We go to the geek squad and the man says that the power thing(again i forgot the name) wont fit. He also said the graphics card wouldn't fit. It wouldn't fit because apparently the tower I have for my computer is a slim one not a full sized one... This sucks a lot my mom doesn't want to get a new computer and the good graphics card is only for a big sized tower >< I was so excited to finally get a better graphics card because I only have an intel one. :tongue.gif:
But we did bring it back for a full refund since we never opened the boxes ^^ So what do you guys think about my story? haha
Note this was a true story :sad.gif:
Do not ever go to best buy for anything, ever. They not only have crap for stock they will screw you over at every oppertunity.
If you have a slim case, chances are, your CPU is badly bottlenecking any GPU you might want. You will likely not see much of a performance increase.
Since your case is slim and you cannot fit a larger power supply, you will need a larger case (micro ATX or ATX mid tower size).
Do not ever buy anything from best buy.
Get a graphics card off newegg, and a case as well. Return the PSU, if it is their in house brand it will catch fire.
Give us your specs and we can link you quality parts for cheap.
Best buy tech should have had the foresight to make sure it would fit that is what you always do first when you recommend a graphics card. We make sure everything will fit here when we recommend parts.

Yes that's the word I'm looking for lol. Simple word. Simple mistake. Life happens ^^. I don't need help finding things :tongue.gif:

I do not buy anything online. Bestbuy is the only place I know of around me. My parents wont buy anything online. (minecraft as an exception - But they didn't really want to)
also bestbuy has always been good to us. we always get good stuff there. And they are all nice.

Well even if they asked us if it was a slim or not we would have no idea. I thought all computers were like this.

Best buy techs do not have any technical per-requisites.
Literally. They do not care if you can even into a computer or not. Most of them just have the basic knowledge on how to install firefox.
They just want to get the sale. #1 priority at best buy is getting the sale, and selling a warranty+installation package, not to make the customer happy.
I've worked there, it's not fun and geek squad mind as well be called "we have no idea wtf we are doing we just fiddle around and either reinstall windows or run the geek squad CD that scans for viruses/cleans the registry on autorun".

Why won't they buy anything online? Not only will parts be cheaper, they will be better quality with better warranties.
Best buy is a horrible company that sells horribly overpriced products. Trust us.

They don't trust people. If I had more money on my visa gift card I would get the stuff but I only have 84$ left and I use it on cheap cheap games. everyone at the bestbuy I went to today was completely fine. They weren't in a rush they were helping us around telling us what we should get because its a huge difference in gaming (especially between 550ti and 560ti card - although we figured that out on our own from the back of the box) I'm actually a computer geek (just not in the tower that stuff I have no idea) and I'm aware of good things or not.

Thinking about coming a mod to simply not moderate.

And take a look at this.
I. Will. Get. It. I have seen videos of things running on it and everything is perfect.
