Alright, that's really good. What parts do you recommend? I also need Windows 7 and a monitor.
uhhhm
Mobo: MSI 870A-G46
CPU: Phenom ii x4 955
PSU: Corsair 430W/450W/500W
RAM: G-Skill/Kinston/whatever 2x2GB
GPU: 5670
HDD: WD Green/Blue 500GB
Case: HAF 912
OD: cheapest black one you can find
OS: Win7 64 Bit OR find a GNU/Linux distro you like. Linux Mint, Arch, Ubuntu, etc.
Monitor: Whatever you like. Buy from a trusted brand (Samsung, Asus, etc.)
There is no way you can get all of this for $600, sorry. I cut corners on everything I could. You just cant do it.
Mobo:Biostar A880G+ AM3 Micro ATX
Cpu: Phenom II x2 555
PSU + Case combo: Rosewill Stallion 500w and Rosewill Blackbone
Ram: Team elite 2x2gb 1333mhz
HDD: Western Digital Caviar blue 320gb
Gpu: HD 6750 1gb ddr5
OD: Lite on Sata dvd-rom
OS:Win 7 home premium 64 bit oem
Monitor: Hanns GH Z201DPB Black 20 1600x900
$610
If you have to be under 600 bucks, get a HD 6670 instead.
To the guy above me, nothing is impossible, you cut little to no corners. If you want something, you look for it.
i3 barebones kit for $282
Comes with case, motherboard, cpu, 4GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and DVD-RW. Add a video card and an upgraded power supply and you're set.
This computer will be faster than either of those AMD builds posted above and is $465 before rebates, tax, and shipping, which leaves you a bit to spend on a monitor.

Also a monitor is needed. Rebates are no good if you only have so much money.

That seems amazing, especially for my budget. I just need a monitor because that monitor you recommended was out of stock.
And another thing: this afternoon/evening I took apart my dad's dinosaur of a computer and managed to put the thing back together with little problems. I can't really test to see if it works, because the power button doesn't work (it didn't work before), but I am confident that I did it right. So I think I am ready (with a tutorial) to build my own PC.

Biostar Mobo? Ehh, if you have to, I guess it isn't the worst you can get.
Rosewill PSU? No way. Seriously, don't cheap out on a PSU, even if you get it cheap.
WD 320GB? I got a WD Blue 320GB laptop HDD for $40 a few months ago. There is no reason you should ever get a 320GB 3.5" drive. Its like $10 more for 3x the storage space.
Everything else looks good though.

I'm just going by reviews brah. All of them are rated pretty high. As for hdd space, its not a need. I doubt with a 5670 that he will be installing hundreds of games.

Rosewill PSU are of fine quality all of the computers I build in rl for people are rosewill PSU and my personal computers are all rosewill. None have died so far im using nearly the max power on my current one and it delivers what it says.

That's why the price I listed was $465 *before* rebates and such. A monitor is about $100, which bumps the price to $565 BEFORE rebates, which is below his $600 budget. And a few weeks later he would get $40 back in the mail.
That pc is decent. It's far from being a beast, even if it is a decent price :biggrin.gif:

Keep an eye on that. Hanns-G monitors are VERY hit and miss (although when it is a hit, it is a very good hit).
600$ for parts and a monitor?

Radeon 6790 video card for $139 ($119 after mail-in rebate).
Corsair Builder Series 430W power supply for $44.99 ($24.99 with mail in rebate)

total price for all $514 not including shipping
NOPE
Jesus Christ, that build isn't worth $100 let alone $500.
I could literally build something better with $200.
or Here, use the configurators

I've tried those. Not really interested in those.
I just need a decent monitor. I think I'm gonna go with what Fiarwire said. The link to the monitor he gave me is sold out.
