Now, with Minecraft, I just feel like it goes under the performance. Now, I know everyone in the next part will ***** like hell, but just chill. I get 150FPS with the PC, which may seem like alot, but Minecraft FPS are so unstable sometimes it just lacks smoothness. I feel like I should be getting over 400 FPS with a 590 and i7 2600K, but it just struggles to have a stable performance and it sometimes has lag spikes. I ***** because, BlueXephos and CaptainSparklez have similar builds, but when they record WITH fraps on, their performance always tops mine. I feel like a lack smoothness. Is there a reason to this, and is there a way to fix it? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, maybe it's with Java or with Nvidia, but please let me know. AND PLEASE, FROM THE ****ING BOTTOM OF MY HEART, DON'T SAY "SET RENDER DISTANCE TO SHORT" OR ÜSE GAME BOOSTER!".
I have overclocked my CPU to 4.1 Ghz, 350 FPS now.
EDIT: Minecraft is also prone to random lag spikes, so it may not be an issue on your part. I have a computer that gets anywhere from 30-300 fps and I have no idea why.
That does seem odd, since I run only an I5 2500 and 570, and I get about 400. Did you try allocating more RAM to the newest Java 64 build? If not, that may be your problem
didn't read the whole thing but have you tried game booster? If that doesn't work then try putting the graphics down and put the render distance to short, it should help :smile.gif:

No matter how awesome your **** is, Minecraft is still one of the most difficult games to run, Why? Because it is poorly optimized. If you're really wanting to be the FPS ***** get Optifine, I read your whole post and all but seriously. You should also put on the FPS limit, as high FPS can cause screen tearing and odd glitches. When I get 50 fps, that or i'm just used to it, It seems smooth enough.
lol jk thats probably not it, maybe try cleaning your system out? just format and reinstall windows, should take a half hour to get back into windows and another hour to set up all your programs again..
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
It will go to a menu
Click "Start Task Manager"
Go to processes
open minecraft
go back to processes option
you will see "javaw" in Image Name section
Right click javaw
Go to set priorty
set the priorty either high or all the time
Solved
If ^ doesnt work
set your memory (RAM) allocation at least 70% to your game
Don't know, don't post. There i nothing wrong with your system, it is minecraft's fault. Minecraft is terribly optimized. I bet you could get at least 40FPS in BF3 on ultra even though minecraft isn't graphically intensive at all. I wonder what minecraft would be like if it was completely remade in something like cryengine 3.

Welcome to Minecraft, Minecraft's code is more like spaghetti than an italian restraunt.

Your 590 might as well be a brick when it comes to Minecraft, a 100 dollar card would easily max out the rendering, 90% of Minecraft is CPU time and clock on one core(since it's pretty much single threaded.) Overclocking will make the biggest difference because it pretty much raises the pumping power of one core. I'm not sure if captainsparklez or anyone uses optifine but you may want to give that a try(assuming you're using 64 bit Java too.) Optifine fixes a few of the performance dropping quirks and uses multicore processors a bit more efficiently.
The game in general seems really glitchy to me when it comes to "smoothness" that may just be a general thing. Even over 60 FPS the FPS can be very "wobbly" especially if you're playing single player, since the combination of CPU usage and chunk loading causes some weird pauses.
Short version: Minecraft sucks(code wise), GPU is a brick, overclocking is King and you can't do much besides install a mod or wait for Jeb to make Minecraft less crappy in 2043.
CPU: i7 2600K 3.4ghz
GPU: GTX 590
RAM: 8GB of RAM
HDD: 1 TB 7200 rpm

That is just a bad idea, especially since it is soon to be outdated.
