Hi, I was wondering if some people wanted to make a game together, I've been wanting to make games for a while now, but my school has no classes on coding, and tutorials alone aren't enough for me to figure out a good coding language like C++, but I can do art work. So I was wondering if someone who does know how to code want to make a 2D Side scrolling cartoony styled RPG game, with maybe multiple modes.
Or we could practice together and make simple games for Armor Games/Newgrounds for a while, then work our way up.
In Short; I want to make RPG games, but am only good at artwork, and I want to maybe start and Indie company, profit isn't important, I just wanna make a good game right now.
Please post if you're interested.
EDIT: Main Goal in life: To get a game on steam
EDIT: We have workers now, but Ideas are still welcome :smile.gif:
I'm also not much for coding, but I can write stories pretty well, if you need a writer. However, how in depth do you want to take this kind of thing? Is this just for fun or to go really far?
.... Huh, well...
Belive it or not I am getting my degree in video game design.
I can certainly help but I think its worth getting another person more versed in C++, Java, Or Ruby.
Oooooorr my personal recommendation is to look at game maker. Because I actually Know some GML(the programming language it uses).
Game maker is cool because it is as simple or as complicated as you want it to be.
also this would be good practice for me :biggrin.gif:

If you were willing to help I'd be greatful :biggrin.gif:
I just need to know 2 things; if I could make the sprites in Paint.net and if yes, what the resolution for each thing would need to be
I could help you with artwork and ideas, and stuff.

Want my help?
Just PM me.
Edit:
If your goal is to make a quality product, success and profit will come as a bi-product.
Good luck :cool.gif:
Those are nice, maybe a little more darkness around the edges and they'd fit the game style
and this'll sound weird but I'm not worried about profit, I just want a game I make to get on steam

Okay.
So you want my help?
I need something to do these days, and this would be fun.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have other people's signatures stuck off, so I can't ever seem them. Oh well.
Ok, I'll do the sprites or something for now, what about character creation?
once again Know you can, havent found how to do it. Like I said I know Some GML. I am sure we can work that out toward the end
I can work on a basic engine
sooo. What do we want the game to be sidescroller platformer? over head zelda like?

Technically Speaking
Maybe, the idea of the game is like a Cartoon Side Scroller, and there's mainly undead taking over the world
Not sure how much story you'll need, but keep me in mind if you do

Very nice!
however if I can make a suggestion, look into anti-aliasing. It will take away that pixeled look around the edge
That was the aim for those, I like the pixely look (and usually a dark outer outline, too)

Yes and whatever resolution you want :smile.gif:
game maker can change the size of every sprite and what not. It is extremely versatile.
Okay.

Cool, so is there a way where we could layer tiles to make a character like-
Top:
Arm
Middle:
Torso + Legs
Bottom:
other arm
then add other layers for armor/ weapons?
Sure, maybe you could try and draw a... Zombie with the body shape of my avatar? Or just the body shape of my avatar with white, and a face
thats funny cause I wanted to find a way to do that. I know you can but I have yet to find a way to do it in game maker
