Last night I had a power surge. When I went to start it up, it starts to make a loud crunching noise in intervals, but once it boots up (5 min instead of the 1 min before the surge) it is fine and doesn't make the crunching noise. Should I replace the HDD? It is brand new, just got it a week ago, but it didn't have a warranty. What could of happened? Plus the HDD was the only part damaged by it.

If you're running windows just to be safe I would run a chkdsk /r. Do it before you go to bed and leave it overnight, note that it might take a very long time depending on the size and might look like it's frozen when it really is not.
