The title say's. This is NOT a joke. My Antivirus ( avast ) has informed me of a virus called
winupdate.exe
I have browsed the system file's before, such as system32. And never saw such a exe. I need help on removing it, from my fellow Minecrafter's.
It is SLIGHTLY okay it is on my computer; My antivirus prevent's it from opening. Although, I would REALLY like to have it off my computer. Before you ask me about what site's i have visited, no, i don't visit ( read this backwards ) nrop site's or anything. I ALWAYS'S only visit site's i KNOW will not have a virus ( such as Yahoo.com or Minecraft.net ) and if i come across a site im interested in, i research it, so i have no idea.
I have had it for a while, I noticed that when i start my computer and log on it says " Programs blocked ' winupdate.exe ' " From a bubble that came from the bottom right part of the screen. I decided to not mind it, as I thought it sound's like a ACTUAL program, and not a virus.
I was stupid.
A few month's later, I decided to have more protection, and install a Antivirus, Avast. I was in the middle of a scan and it said
Last Infected File : winupdate.exe
That was it, and i went to this site to search for help.
Because Minecrafter's know.
Because Minecrafter's are awesome.
Because Minecrafter's are awesome, they probably know.
Anyway's, all of what i just said is THIS in a nutshell :
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Post anything you know. Thank you!
P.S. I can't HANDLE losing my computer, No Minecraft, No friends, No ANYTHING.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

This is claimed to give remote access to your computer. Download Microsoft Security Essentials...don't worry it is free..
and scan sometime to see if it is removed. If you manage to locate it and after the scan it isn't removed then download Norton Power Eraser for deeply embedded stuff you can't remove.
If its already blocked, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about. If you do want to remove it, there should be a feature in Avast that allows you to do so, so go look for help at Avast. :smile.gif:
Try using Kaspersky's free virus removal tool. It will scan and remove viruses like a proper Kaspersky Antivirus, the only difference is that it is only for scanning, not real-time protection.
Sorry guy's. I am not going to rub a magnet or delete system32.
Im not dumb, sorry ^^
btw, if any other info is needed, ask me.
Or do as what I said... Oh Btw, have you checked your processes under task manager to see if it is running? If it is then right click it and open file location...
If you know the exact location of the file you can boot your pc in safe mode and then manually remove it that way. It's often easier to get rid of viruses and stuff this way than waiting on your antivirus to get rid of it for you.
