My first FPS game was playing Halo 1 with my older cousin & younger brother, I was around 10-11. (Didn't own an XBOX, was a Playstation household :tongue.gif: )
I didn't start "online gaming" until I was 18, couldn't afford XBL
(This excludes WoW / Runescape)

You shouldent touch electronics until 5, non-brain games until 7, and you get Blood and gore shooter provliges after you prove you know that what you see is just a game and not suitible in real life.
Exactly If a kid can prove that they know its only a game and would never do the bad stuff in the game...they should be able to get some shooters(not the really violent ones or realistic ones...some of the other less violent ones until there older and understand even better)

Yes, I was playing Grand Theft Auto when I was about 9 because I had my older brother watch me while I played and my parents would make sure that I wouldn't be able to play unless they lectured me about what is appropriate in a game and what is appropriate in real life.
Sorry I don't know every game on every system. I played Halo when it was an Xbox exclusive on release. By the time it got ported I was onto the next biggest and greatest

jake, do you know how you rub that ball is almost hypnotising?
anyways, i digress.
little kids should not be playing violent games or mature games unless said child has been instructed about the reality and theme of said games, and that said child understands said games fully, and said child will know better about said games.
that being said, parents are lacking in that department sometimes for judgement.
it is truely not a "go in, buy kid game, go home and done" thing.
you dont give these things to kids like candy who DONT understand the game and what connections it does and doesnt have to reality.
i say that children should be allowed to play such games, but only with proper understanding.

Before I could touch a shooter game, my dad sat me down, made me watch saving private ryan from start to finish, and gave me a full walkthrough of why war is horrible. I die a little inside when I hear kids talking and they have no idea what war is, and they are not remotely aware that war is hell on earth.

After 10:30 PST, my IQ drops to around that of a shovel, please disregard anything I say after aforementioned time, it will likely not make any sense, and is best ignored.
I find kids who play M rated games an okay thing. If anything it helps them mature, and not the other way around. Although, the same thing can not be said for the online experience, and this can not be said for every child, since they are all raised differently. There are examples where kids take video games the wrong way. But the ratio of bad kids to good kids is about 1:20, this is an estimation from past experiences. I'm fine with kids playing games, even listening to them is fine, we have tons on this forums that I deal with. The only problem is their attitude when playing them.

Yep.....I personally don't like the parents that just don't care and let there kid do anything...Like what are they gonna turn out to be.....most likely like there parents(Don't care about anything) and or Became thugs Etc because they get away with everything(kids need freedom But not total freedom)

Parents of the past generation are terrible.. There has been a study saying the future generation(s) is(are) actually the first since the 70s to make less money than their parents.
Parents have stopped caring about their kids it seems, and it's awful that they even get to keep them (Again, talking majority here)

Thugs, no. Impatient ticking time bomb children, yes!
Hmm, dad snuck me past the usherettes at the showing of "Gallipoli" when I was 10, to explain what all the Anzac Day stuff was about (IRL Birthday is 25 April, local day of the died in battle memorials in Australia).
Next day I played Choplifter with dad on PC, and asked him why the bad guys were all wearing turbans and lived in sandy places...
The issue of should I have been playing with virtual bullets at all never came up with my parents.
Now I play Minecraft with my own kids online, as it distracts the teen son from TF2 and Duke, and 10yo daughter from nagging to have a go at GTA...
When should you let your kids start dropping virtual cops on a six star rampage anyway?
Depends on the kid in question I guess.
It's like a bowl, but it's made of hyperactivity

that didnt mean you didnt have had a gentlemanly stature about yourself that vindicated any immaturity that might have occured.
you are thy true gentleman, and started as such.
Mature is for any age, you just need to know what it means.
Really....?

An exaggeration. An example would be;
Normal; That Potato was quite large.
With Hyperbole; The Potato was gigantic, far surpassing the size of even the moon!
Also, I can assure you that my post doesn't contain any hyperboles.
