I wish I could uninstall Firefox from my computer and just use Opera. I would be fine most of the time, as Opera's compatibility is pretty high, but no. There are still complete morons out there who do not conform to the standards of web design and rely on the ways of Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Meaning that their websites will be malfunctioning or broken when viewed on just about any other web browser. I hate that!
No, I have to open up Firefox just to view that stupid web page, whatever it is. It could be a community college website, AdFly, MySpace, etc. And put up with Firefox's ******** lagging on stuff like images, Java, Javascript, Flash, etc. Opera slices through that like a hot knife through melted butter! And no memory leaks on Opera.
You want to know why Nintendo uses the Opera web browser on their Wii and DS systems? It's because Firefox is such an unoptimized and bloated piece of **** that it would crash those systems. I'm not freaking lying or trolling. That's reality.
So webmasters out there, be sure to conform to the web standards that W3 puts out there and be sure that your website works perfectly on Opera as well, because it's the 4th most used web browser on the Internet. Fact. It used to be the 3rd, until Google put out that stupid paperweight of a web browser called "Chrome" out there. Now, while Chrome is extremely fast and is a lot better than Firefox, I do not trust it.
Opera performs about as well, if not better, than Google Chrome. Fact. And it has been in development ever since 1996. Far longer than Firefox (unless you count Netscape, its ancestor) and Chrome.
Google "opera web browser" and download the Opera web browser today! For Windows, Linux, Mac OSX, BSD, and mobile phones which don't suck (like mine does). Don't uninstall Firefox just yet, though, even if you find Opera to be way better than Mozilla's breadwinner, because there may be some idiot webmasters out there who are still ignorant of any web browser that is not Firefox.
I personally don't like Firefox.. but seriously.. what's the point in this thread? Random rants that no one really cares about? If you didn't give off the vibe you were so angry and carefully explained why firefox is "bad", maybe this thread would turn out better.
Also, Opera is the 5th most used browser. No way in hell that thing is ranked higher than Safari. It goes IE>Firefox>Chrome>Safari>Opera
I've only used IE, Firefox and Chrome, and I personally rank it like this: Chrome>Firefox>IE. Chrome uses like no memory at all, pages load super fast, and I generally have no problems with it compared to Firefox which took up .5gb of memory..
I don't know what Google Chrome you use, but the Google Chrome I use certainly isn't a "stupid paperweight of a web browser". :smile.gif:

I am currently beating Minecraft Forum's silly & stupid limits. This signature will definitely be more than 2 lines long. Who da fudge even came up with that silly rule?
Ha ha MCF
Minecraft is definitely a lot worse now.
I'm serious
I don't see how anyone can legitimately play this game and have fun
Wanna know why I think it's so bad?
It took Mojang over 2 months to finish 1.8
My reaction when 1.8 came out?
LOL is this some kind of joke?
Then I sadly figured out that it wasn't a joke.
1. Less updates, much less frequently.
They are implementing features that suck
Example?
Hunger system.
The hunger system sucks.
Do I have to explain why?
No seriously, do I really have to explain why? Look at the many threads about it on this forum.
I'm against the hunger system
2. They add in pointless updates, even some that make the game worse.
I don't feel like finishing this post with more reasons, maybe I'll do it later.
Anyways, at the end of the day, Minecraft has been sucking lately.
Oh yeah!
Take this Minecraft Forum! My signature is longer than 2 lines! HA HA HA HA HA.
No offense, but things like that is why no one is going to take you or this thread seriously.

Yes, open source may not always be the most optimized software out there. That doesn't mean that non-open source is always better. Take IE, for example. It has to be the WORST web browser known to mankind. Somehow, it always manages to be at least a year out of date. And it has paid professionals(can we even call them that?) working on it.
And as far as some websites being optimized for firefox, some of that would be slightly different ways of rendering HTML (If you think Mozilla dropped the bat there, check out the differences between IE versions) and part of that would be that those pages are designed using bits of the latest HTML and CSS that other browsers haven't supported yet. (There are so many digs to be made at IE, aren't there. And yet you barely mentioned it)
Just a suggestion, if you stop haphazardly slamming browsers without even trying them out, more people would take your side.
The only web browser I hate more than Firefox is Internet Explorer. But I believe that the problems that IE has is more than well-known among those who know what the **** they are doing on the computer. It's slow as ****, has security holes up the ass, still has that same shitty download manager (still cannot pause and resume) I remember from my Windows 98 days, add-ons are very poorly implemented (by taking up more space than necessary), etc., etc., etc..
I don't see why Opera gets so overlooked (besides the fact that it's proprietary, but that's a retarded reason unless you want to tinker around with its source code) when it has more features than SeaMonkey and it is as fast as Google Chrome, if not faster.
I love firefox, it runs faster on my old crap computer than my new computer running chrome. I neve understood why people say chrome is so much faster. It probably is faster, but not that much. I also love the add ons. Specially ad block. And safari is better than IE, but not that much better. Safari has gotten a lot better in recent years, but still isn't that great. And have you even used safari? If you haven't than you can't say much, can you? I also don't see why you have a problem with chrome. It is fast, versatile, and runs well.

Firefox beats the hell out of any other browser for web development, based solely on the developer tools. And don't try and tell me I'm being subjective towards one, because I have 2 versions of Chrome, 3 versions of Firefox, Opera, and IE9 installed on my machine. I use all of them for web development.
Mozilla is pushing for better web standards, unlike other browser producers. I do agree, Opera's incompatibility is quite annoying when it should work just fine. Like Google Instant. That's just discrimination, in my opinion.

Webmasters? Err, the term is 'web developers'. It's W3C, but at least you know what it is. Where are your statistics for that claim? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I want some statistics.
What's wrong with Chrome, exactly? You don't trust it? Man, it must be fun not trusting a web browser.

Opera beats it, but the compatibility may make it seem like it doesn't.
Development time doesn't really equate to quality of the product. Sadly, Duke Nukem is a perfect example of that. :/

Us 'webmasters' usually just write regular html, maybe add some javascript to detect the browser and use that to load specific CSS files, but that's about the extent of what browser-favoritism could be.

Sorry, but Apple platforms are regularly the first to fall in the annual Pwn2Own competition due to how bad Safari is. It is the single most insecure modern browser in existence.

I have used Firefox, Chrome AND Opera. Nothing beats Chrome in anything for me - speed, security, screen space, intuitive l&f, no useless junk. The only thing I would love is Unity bar tab integration (instead of menus), which would make the browsing area bigger by around 15 pixels.

Nope. My connection is alright. And I have 3 GB of RAM. My point is that Firefox performs badly compared to certain other browsers out there.
Also, Apple Safari doesn't exist to me.
