Oops, meant to put flamer, not flamed. iPad is a bit hard to type on. Not really. I can call you whatever I want. What you going to do? Come to my house and try and beat me up? No offense, but is this what you do in your free time? Try and annoy people on the forums with almost irrelevant information?
Are you positive that you can just sit there and call me names without a mod punishing you?
Yawn. This thread got boring fast. I expected more intelligent debate, less stereotyping and bickering. A silly expectation to begin with, in retrospect, considering the age groups frequenting this forum.
I use Mac because the OS design has been fantastic, from System 7 to the current Mac OS X (not including the repulsive public beta of OS X); they're incredibly reliable, meaning pretty much crash-free, virus-free, and glitch-free; and the hardware, while underpowered sometimes, is rock solid and high quality. Only Apple would make a laptop out of titanium...that thing was a beauty.

You have just contradicted yourself in that post. You said something about expecting more intelligent debate and not so much stereotyping and bickering, but in the next paragraph, almost everything you say is a bit too opinionated to take seriously.

Try again.
Everyones bias. Everyone is a hypocrite. He didn't say anything about having an opinion being bad, because after all, this is an opinion thread.

I was stating my opinion. Thank you for stating the obvious.
Now, we are looking at the RAM. You'd be looking at the same price for a upgrade to 12GB, so a additional $100.
What about a HDD? The iMac has a 2tb drive, yours is only 1tb. This is about $100 more.
Now what about the graphics? The iMac has a 6970M 2GB, yours is a paltry 5770 1GB. Here's a comparison (note: it compares a desktop 6970, so the mobile version is slightly slower, but still is much faster and has twice the VRAM). http://www.hwcompare.com/6355/radeon-hd-5770-vs-radeon-hd-6970/
So, yours has worse graphics, and needs extra stuff to be up to snuff.
Let's compare prices. Before we start, remember that the PC is more expandible, and that the iMac is one-of-a-kind (all-in-one, etc). There is simply nothing similar to the iMac in the world, as we are comparing a desktop and a all-in-one. Anyways...
PC:
$2355
Mac:
$2650
And, let's see... The Mac has MUCH better graphics, and is a all-in-one. The PC has worse graphics, and requires more space (although you can change out the parts easier than in a Mac).
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.” — Albert Einstein
"Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig." — Robert Heinlein
Cool story bro. 1st of all, I'm not a PC "fanboy". Second of all, you're a Mac "fanboy". Third of all, I was actually comparing it to this.
Edit: Also the screen you listed is far better than the iMac's, so drop the price of the PC by $800. Then add $200 to the iMac's price as you'd have to get a Radeon HD 5770 made for the Mac.
You all are arguing over a pointless and idiotic topic.
One. A Mac IS a PC. PC = personal computer. The Mac is a personal computer.
Two. While you can get better hardware for cheaper if you build the system yourself, Macs have better software-hardware compatibility, meaning they're more stable and thus more secure (hardware wise).
Three. You can overclock both Macs and "PC's"
Four. The operating systems usually associated between Macs and "PC's" have their strengths and weaknesses. The point is, whichever one is easier for you to use is better for you. That doesn't necessarily mean it's better for everyone. Just you and anyone else who shares your needs.
Five. While you are paying a lot more for a Mac than for the equivalent "PC", the hardware you're getting with the Mac is (usually) very high quality. You'll pay about the same price for the equivalent of a Mac if you're looking for both power and quality. It's rather simple really; you get what you pay for.
While we're at it, I'll tackle a couple other common arguments.
Six. Both OSX and Windows can get viruses. You just see viruses less often on OSX because it has a smaller userbase.
Seven. A Mac can run Windows and a "PC" can run OSX.
All in all, you're debating a pointless argument. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, one is not better than the other for everyone because it is better than the other for you, and if you can't see that, you ought to take your bigotry back to /g/.
For the record, I dual boot Windows 7 with Debian Linux on a custom build, and I own a Mac Pro.
First of all, the generally accepted terminology is that a Macintosh computer is referred by as a "Mac", and a computer running a Microsoft OS as the main OS is referred to as a "PC".
Secondly, Apple is worth more than Microsoft and Intel combined as of today. It is also worth more than most individual computer manufacturers, and has a 15% market share, and their market share is growing faster than Microsoft's market share.
Thirdly, a little known fact is that Microsoft has HIGHER profit margins than Apple.
Fourthly, while a Mac can run Windows via BootCamp, a PC cannot usually run OS X, due to the way Apple designed the OS. Now, you can run it, but it's 100% unsupported, and requires a insane amount of time/effort to make it work.
Fifthly, there are currently 0 active Mac viruses, and all exploits were never released, save for one virus released years ago that isn't active anymore and is long since patched. In addition, the MacDefender malware has already been patched by Apple, and they update their definitions for it every 24 hours and push out a update to your computer automatically, with no user interaction required. Can you say the same for Microsoft? Do they have 0 viruses, and send you updates every 24 hours to keep away a single piece of malware?
Finally, I run Mac OS 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Ubuntu GNOME on different computers/VMs around the house, and I've tried all of them. My favorite is Mac OS, and I am not some computer-illiterate idiot. I can use the command-line interface proficiently on both Linux and Mac OS, and I know my way around Mac OS.
To the trolls -- go back to /g/ please, you are getting boring here. Ever noticed how the PC fanboys are the most rabid about this whole argument?

Secondly, Apple is worth more than Microsoft and Intel combined as of today.
You realize this is primarily because of the iPhone and iPod, right? It's not really saying much about their computers.
Can you say the same for Microsoft? Do they have 0 viruses, and send you updates every 24 hours to keep away a single piece of malware?
Microsoft Security Essentials, a program that's existed for quite some time, does have almost daily definitions updates, yes. You merely don't hear about them targeting a single piece of malware since it's rare when a single piece of malware becomes such a commotion, like that Mac Trojan did. At the very least, Microsoft never denied the existence of such a piece of malware and has, for a long time, provided support to inflicted users.

Thinking about coming a mod to simply not moderate.

*hem*
I'm a little bored of entertaining you rabid PC fanboys, but here goes...
Here's the iMac in question: http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC814LL/A?mco=MjIwNTQ2NzM
$2550, not including $100 for a upgrade to 12GB RAM. So, for a powerful computer that I'm planning on buying, it'll run me only $2650.
Your PC seems to be missing a few things. First, you forgot the display. Want to equal the iMac? It has a industry-leading screen, one that the only equivalent is sold by Dell for $1000. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&sku=224-8284&redirect=1
Lets see, you are missing speakers/webcam.

Not to mention how ugly that wire jungle looks.

Yes, because one wire looks like a wire jungle. /sarcasm
I'm getting tired of these Mac fanboys, so I'm off.

Here is the smartest and the truest statement this thread will ever have:
Fanboys, of any type, should be shunned and ignored.
