Your opinion of Ubuntu is completely flawed. Unlike Windows, and even OSX, Linux/GNU distributions get updated very frequently. The whole thing changes every 6-ish months. So don't base your opinion off of an experience you had 48 months ago. A lot has changed.

Apple Tax. Other than that, I really don't have a problem with Apple products. They're snappy like any computer should be. Now what problems I do have... is just towards the people, on both sides. :tongue.gif:

These threads are always fun to read. Let us sit next to each other and watch this show!

i hope u realize that LInux distro's get updated very rapidly (some even update right when updates are availible, there rolling releases) and the experience will be very diffrent now.
Which is why I added the disclaimer at the bottom. Also why I tried to use past tense while writing of my experience. Thanks but no thanks, I'm too hooked on too many programs that I'd have to try and install/run through wine if I went back to linux now(primarily visual novels, eroge, and emulators for obscure systems such as the pc-88, pc-fx, pc-engine, msx, X68000, and Sega Saturn).
I would suggest PC. The MAC is only support the Apple products. Its hardware vendor dependable and too expensive one. The PC is support all kinds operating system. And they do not depends any vendor hardware.

I think wrong bcuse if you Dell example they is dependable of dell hardware much as Apple. And since MAC hardware vendor Intel it is support all kinds operating system either!
Technologically macs are good.
But as far as businesses go. Apple is the yuppie douchebag of the business world, they are so full of themselves. I wouldn't buy a mac simply because I don't like Apple as a business.

I am the mighty Finder...
I can find everything...
You can run Windows but you cannot hide...
from the ghost in the machine...
No scape button,
no CTRL + ALT + DELETE...
YEAH!
Beat that PCs! :laugh.gif:
The Start Menu has a search function on Windows...
Crtl + Alt + Delete brings up a Menu that lets you select from these options: "Start task Manager", "Lock this Computer", "Switch User", "Change a Password", and "Log-off"...
Your poem has been killed...
Windows computers don't cost a fortune...
YEAH!
Beat that Mac Fanboys! :laugh.gif:
macs are for MAKING games. PC's are for PLAYING them.
I never liked Mac because it's all too cute and user friendly. Plus their arrogant commercials.
and once I discovered that all of the "Incompatible apps" for IPad2 can actually be unlocked for IPad1 in 5 minutes without jail breaking the device, I decided that Mac is an evil company that purposely puts out crappy products just so you are eventually FORCED to buy a new one.

You see the bolded part? Can't you see how completely ****ing retarded that sounds? Windows and Linux computers are just as capable, if not more, of software and game development.
so does Microsoft when you replace a important part of your computer (like a logic board) it goes all DERP.not geniune.
It's called a "motherboard", it's not a freaking logic board like you Apple fanboy retards likes to call them. Apples stopped being viable when they stopped using the PowerPC platform and started using the Intel platform, eliminating the biggest difference between a Mac and a PC. Nice going, Steve Job!
As for the Genuine thing, that's a moot point. Exactly how often do you replace a "major" part like a motherboard, anyway?
I find it strange that Apple says "NO" to installing OS X on anything other than a Mac, yet they have software which lets you run windows. Though they enforce that rule quite terribly.

I use Linux.
I honestly can't say much about Macs for lack of knowledge and experience with them...but Windows...I can't stand Windows.
I've never even used Windows as my home OS, yet it still continually finds ways to **** me off, **** up my ****, and generally make any experience I have with it a nightmare.
I dislike Apple as a company. They always seem to be actively seeking ways to trample the rights of their consumers and developers. For instance, it's only by virtue of an EU court ruling that we're allowed to play the songs we bought on iTunes on other devices. We cannot forget the entire jailbreaking controversy, which Apple thankfully lost. They only recently admitted (after multiple weeks of flat-out denying it and refusing to provide support to users afflicted with it) that there's a serious scareware threat targeting Macs.
There's multitudinous offenses related to the moderation of the app store and their handling of it, the most prominent being the incident with Google Voice. They published updated review guidelines just last September. This move was prompted by the launching of an FCC inquiry brought upon by the rejection of the Google Voice app (which was later approved under the new guidelines).
Besides that, they're always notoriously slow when it comes to releasing security updates. Exploits are left to sit sometimes for months before getting patched. Safari is, without dispute, the least secure of any modern browser in large part because of this (yes, IE is more secure than Safari).
About that scareware mentioned earlier. Apple just released a patch to stop it from installing so easily. A new version of the scareware that gets around said patch is already out and about. Let us time Apple's response to this updated threat, shall we?
And then you have to drop $2000 on a low-spec computer that could be built by yourself for 1/3rd of the price.
Well that would be dumb. If you're buying a Mac, it's already got the OS. What would be the point in buying the OS if you don't already have a computer to run it on?
Macs are expensive. We know. That horse has been beaten enough.
It's like buying a 300hp Audi, instead of a 300hp Chevy. You get what you pay for in quality. It's not all in the specs.

Fixed.
I was just stating how much more of a rip-off they are. At BestBuy OS X costs $30 (USD).
Edit: Also I fail to see how thats arguing. Infact after thinking about it a little bit I realized you're the one who loves arguing. Now I'm arguing.

Actually you could refer to nearly any PCB in your computer as a "logic board", but only one of them is the motherboard.
No. It's not.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is $29. That's it. No upgrade BS, no trial BS, that's a FULL OS good for use on any Intel-based Mac.
And then you have to drop $2000 on a low-spec computer that could be built by yourself for 1/3rd of the price.
