do it, jailbreaking was the best decision I made for my iPhone. it is a million times more useful and awesome. emulators of all types, WiFi, USB, and Bluetooth tethering, and custom themes to name a few advantages. if something happens just do a factory reset and they will never know it was jailbroken, warranty reinstated!

well, stop being wrong.
This is what your doing: This is what i want u to do:
well again, if you change your root password they can't get root access.
Actually if Apple didn't have such a tight app screening proccess, we would have the same problem with stealing info in the app stores.
Yes, this is one of the few reasons I do appreciate the Apple app store. Want almost guaranteed safety? GO to the app store. Want freedom? Jailbreaking's your friend.
Well, not exactly. What's stopping an app from sniffing all your wireless data and sending it back to the developer? Apple doesn't check what API calls an app makes. Thats how that flashlight/tethering app made it through a while ago.

I am endeavoring to remember that you are a miracle, a wondrous human being created in the image of God and that I shouldn't wish for your balls to spontaneously combust.
Does anyone realize that this is a forum for minecraft? lol, anyways..... i have a jailbroken ipod touch 4g, and downloading the most expensive apps for free is my favorite pastime.

I'm sorry, but you sir are the one flaming.
Well its a very controversial topic, and there are those that know more about the inner workings of jailbreaks and how they truly work under the surface. Since Jailbreaking, like everything else, has its pros and cons. Naturally there is an argument.
The most simple thing, apple should add to iPhone... SBSettings
The most useful thing ever!

Just curious, what would you jailbreak for? iPhone 4 and iOS 4 has added a bunch of things people have been wanting and jailbreaking for.
1. Real Multitasking
2. Themes
3. [REDACTED]
4. Other tweaks, such as FolderEnhancer
Yer them too, but SBSettings is more ideal for me, anyway I updated to 4.3 :sad.gif: anyone know when the next jailbreak will come out, and last question is it possible to permanently brick my iPhone?

Right now, you can do something called a "tethered" jailbreak. All this means is that every time you turn your phone off, the jailbreak is lost, and it will enter restore mode. Then you have to re-jailbreak to finish booting it up.
Furthermore, it is impossible to permanently brick your phone through software.

True. It is only possible to have to go into a restore, although you still would have to be very stupid in order to screw your jailbreak up that much.
Jailbreaking just adds more to your iPhone/iPod, I find it very useful. FolderEnhancer is my favorits tweak, I have all 100+ of my apps in a single folder, letting whatever wallpaper I have not be blocked by a bunch of apps.
Just make sure to do your research before jailbreaking. And do research before installing any apps off of Cydia or Rock or whatever, because there can still be viruses that can harm your iPod beyond repair.

Have you ever seen thore palls off pollen boken up?
I think I managed to brick with software.
Happened just last week, Using iphone explorer(no I didnt delete springboard-related things), When I returned to my spring board everything was gone.
Went into SBSettings, (which I agree is the most useful program ever) And went to hide icons, None of em were in that list.
The only thing I installed prior was AndroidLock XT. Which was 4.2.1 compatible, and IPhone Explorer never gave me trouble.
But I figured screw it, time for a restore anyways, I held home+sleep to get to recovery, instead the device powered off, Never powered back on, Not in DFU, not in anything.
Sent it in to apple, they said it was a power problem. But I dunno. They didnt get it to turn on obviously, or they'd deem me ineligible for a repair.
So it is possible, Still dunno how it happened, im reluctant to download and install the app again.. I love the android lock though

Yeah, it wasn't bricked through software. It had a manufacturer defect that caused it to do that when you put it in recovery.

All reasons to jailbreak.
