Been planning a game for a few weeks, but I'm stumped as to what language to use. The game will be quite similar to Minecraft in the sense that you explore a landscape building and mining etc, only it will be 2D. It will probably have a pre-made world, just quite large. My question is, is Python an appopiate language for this? I have just started learning it yesterday, and I have PyGame, but should I be using C++ or Java for it? I've never learnt a language properly, so I know it will be hard to make this game. It's a long term project though

I would recommend C++ with SDL and get bashed to oblivion, so I won't. Python seems to be alright for your game.
